Meet Stacey Alvarez de la Campa a born #ClimateGameChanger and climate change Ambassador #TeamBarbados.

Born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Stacey grew up on the island of Barbados. From an early age she was interested in the environment and human rights, and became a member of Greenpeace and Amnesty International.

On completing secondary school, Stacey became an exchange student with the organization American Field Service, and travelled to Denmark to live with a host family for a year. There, she developed a deep appreciation of a fascinating new culture, gaining fresh insight into recycling and sustainability. At this pivotal moment in her life, being so far away from home provided an opportunity for introspection and self-awareness, as she began the journey of cultivating a new-found appreciation for her own Caribbean heritage, as well as the inherent beauty of all landscapes that can be found in nature.

Stacey went on to study Nordic Literature at Odense University in Denmark, before returning to Barbados to pursue undergraduate degrees in Literatures in English (with a minor in Linguistics), as well as Law. She is currently works with Lex Caribbean Attorneys-at-Law in Barbados as a Legal Assistant, and also provides educational consultancy services. As an educator, she has two decades of experience teaching at the secondary level, and has embraced the role of Ambassador with #ClimateGameChangers!

Stacey is also a writer, activist and an advocate who is passionate about climate change, climate justice, and the role of "ordinary" people to change the world. Her hobbies include surfing, running, weight-training, and competing in equestrian sports. She is the mother to an amazing son, CJ, and is a firm believer that the power of collaboration can perpetuate a spirit of hope, optimism, and, most importantly, the awareness that we can all make a difference, no matter how small we believe it will be…a spark can become a flame, and ignite a movement towards making the world a better place.
