As we are heading even closer to our Balancing the Scales event for World Day of Social Justice 2024, we want to dive into what our speakers will be bringing to this exciting event with more to be announced over the next couple of weeks!?

William Thomas : How DLA Piper and The Lord Mayors Appeal are balancing the scales for wellbeing:?

William Thomas is the head of DLA Piper wellbeing committee and will be sharing with us about how the global law firm has been working to end the stigma of mental health in corporate settings.?

Likewise, he will be sharing with us the ‘This is /me’ tools such as promoting wellbeing and encouraging staff members to wear the green ribbon to increase awareness and Balance the Scales of Relative Privilege around wellbeing and mental health.?

Paul Elliott: How Paul Elliott is balancing the scales of relative privilege in football?

Paul Elliott is a former footballer, starting his career at Charlton Athletic and retiring at Chelsea FC. Not only this but Elliott is the Premier Leagues first Black captain!?

Since his retirement, Elliott has become the co-founder of ‘kick-it-out’, and is an active supporter of ‘show racism the red card’, and is an advisor to football boards on EDI development.??

He will be sharing how he has become an ‘EDI game changer’ in football…?

I am delighted to be joined by a very good friend of mine and current co-host on the Privilege Eruption podcast, Roger Williams.??

Roger is the mind behind our research and will be sharing how relative privilege has a profound impact in the workplace with evidentiary support from our research project: The Privilege Conundrum.?

Roger will be sharing with myself how privilege is what is behind conscious and unconscious bias, and how it has been hijacked in the last few years by an over-focus on white privilege.??

There is little research into the impact of relative privilege in the workplace, so we have started our own. In this session we will share with you what we have found so far...and what comes next.??

Roger Williams focuses on digital technologies and customer-centred design, he works with organisations to transform their understanding and application of data, information and organisational knowledge to create exceptional business results.?
