  • Last week, there were at least three significant critical updates on zero-day vulnerabilities: First, Google Chrome addressed a high-severity zero-day vulnerability (CVE-2024-4761) in its V8 JavaScript engine. And then, Microsoft Edge patched a zero-day flaw (CVE-2024-4671), a 'Use After Free' error in Chromium related to the ‘Visuals’ component, along with two high-severity flaws (CVE-2024-4558, CVE-2024-4559). Additionally, CISA added CVE-2024-4671 to the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog, mandating federal agencies to patch it by June 3, 2024. And finally, Apple backported patches for the iOS Kernel zero-day (CVE-2024-23296) to older devices, addressing memory corruption issues.   • Fluent Bit identified a severe vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2024-4323 and dubbed #LinguisticLumberjack. This widespread logging and metrics solution was widely used in Kubernetes distributions from AWS to Azure—notable users included Microsoft, VMware, TrendMicro, Dell, and LinkedIn, among others. The FluentBit vulnerability affected many tech companies and all the major cloud providers. CVE-2024-4323 was a #memorycorruption #vulnerability caused by a heap buffer overflow in Fluent Bit's embedded HTTP server. During trace request parsing, it led to Denial-of-Service (#DoS) and Remote Code Execution (#RCE) attacks.
