??Meet Sharon
??Tell us about your career at Mark’s. ?
My career with Mark’s started in 1994, when I agreed to help a Store Manager that I had worked for previously as a temporary employee. She had just taken over the store and needed people she knew could adapt quickly to the retail landscape. My intention was only to stay for a few weeks as I had a full-time job. However, it quickly turned into me staying longer and learning more about the other roles in the store which was critical for understanding the business quickly.
After a few more months, this led to me taking on a role within the store as the Assistant Manager, and with this role, I was able to see my career in retail for the first time. From here my career trajectory led to Store General Manager (SGM) for a few years, then to taking on the role as the District Manager, and in the past two years, I was fortunate enough to assume the role of AVP of the Ontario region. Understanding and working in multiple roles within a store, whether big or small, was what helped shape me as a leader today and continues to inspire my retail journey.??
?? How do you contribute to Making Life in Canada better??
Making life in Canada better for me is about being clear on how I show up every day for my team, my peers and our customers. My lens that I view keeping Canadians warmer, drier, safer and more comfortable is one that speaks to the ease of our shopping experience, where we focus on our fantastic product and customer service model. We execute with excellence and highlight at every interaction what our products stand for and what they can do for you to make your life better, whether it is in your personal or professional life.
The field teams are the catalyst of change, and our role is one that always holds true to aligning everything we do to keep our customers warmer, drier, safer and more comfortable.?

?? What is it about Mark’s that excites you to come to work each day??
The fact that I can change someone’s life or career path by guiding and encouraging them with a positive intention. It is this sense of purpose that I choose to root myself in daily!
The retail industry is constantly changing; however, we all contribute to something bigger with every action and interaction we make.?
?? What have you learned throughout your time with Mark's??
The biggest lesson I have learned over my tenure at Mark’s is that you never stop learning. There will always be people that have more experience than you throughout your career, but this is how you learn and grow. Mentorship is key for support and have the courage to stand for what you believe.
Daily at Mark’s, I am encouraged and inspired from our part-time field employees to our corporate and banner partners. We work for a great Canadian retailer!?
