?? Tell us about your career at Mark's

I joined Mark's just over 5 years ago. My path to Mark’s wasn’t direct, I completed an undergraduate and master's degrees in biology which led me to work in environmental education – combining my love of animals, the environment and kids. The flood in Calgary in 2013 changed my direction, I began working in retail and quickly fell in love with the business. Driven by a desire to add more knowledge to the practical experience I had gained working and managing in stores, I returned to school once again to complete an MBA program, which led me to Mark’s. I joined the Strategic Operations team in 2019 and have not looked back!?

?? Tell us about how you contribute to making life in Canada better.

An important part of this for me is through my role as a leader in our business.

It’s incredibly important to me that our whole team feels supported and empowered in their roles to be able to do their best work.

While I don’t directly build high-quality products or test new innovations, I contribute to making the working lives of our teams better and supporting them each day as we all work collectively as a team to make life in Canada better through Mark’s and Canadian Tire.?

??What is it about Mark's that excites you to come to work each day?

My work is centered around understanding how all the different parts of our business are connected and work together to contribute to the results we see at a high level. This translates to so many areas of our team’s work including reporting and analysis, strategic planning, understanding our customers, real estate strategy and future capability planning.

I love continually learning about our business every day and seeing how the decisions and actions we choose to take contribute to our collective success and progress toward our mission of Making Life in Canada better, by keeping Canadians warmer, drier, safer and more comfortable!?

?? What do you love about working at Mark’s??

Can I say everything? Is that too cliché?

I love that after 5 years I am still learning new things and feeling challenged every single day. I love the interesting business challenges our team gets the opportunity to work on, and thinking about how the strategy for Mark’s could shape the future. I love working with and learning from the Strategic Operations team, and collaborating with the teams at the other banners like Sport Chek and Canadian Tire Corporation .

I love the support I feel personally and professionally from our team and our leadership – I am preparing to step away from the business temporarily for a maternity leave starting in January. While I am feeling excited, I also know that I am going to miss the teams and our work tremendously and I am already looking forward to returning January 2026!?
