Meet Sarah...

Meet Sarah...

I want to introduce you to Sarah...?

Sarah's day begins before the sun has risen. She steals an hour before the kids get up to tackle emails and set her to-do list for the day ahead. Once the kids get up she's thrown into tag teaming with her husband to prepare breakfast, checking homeworks, organising pick-ups and drop-offs and packing school lunches. The morning rush is a blur of activity - brushing hair, tying shoelaces, and doling out hurried kisses before rushing out the door.

With her children safely off to school, Sarah arrives home and is about to dive headfirst into work, determined to make the most of every minute - only to realise she's been up 3 hours and hasn't even had breakfast - a slice of toast and coffee on her way to her desk it is then!

Despite her to-do list being as long as her arm - she doesn't know where to start, what to focus on and suddenly finds herself scrolling her emails and socials instead - decision fatigue has triggered her coping strategy - procrasta-scrolling! Thirty minutes later, she pulls herself back into work mode, now feeling even more behind and guilty for 'wasting' precious time.

From creating content, delivering client sessions and the accompanying admin, to working on her course content and finishing her sales page - there is no shortage of items on her ever-growing to-do list. She gets stuck in, but quickly finds herself jumping from task to task - notifications popping up left, right and centre and just where did she save that sales page template?!!

?Before she realises it's already time for the school pick up - she feel's really energised after amazing client session, but didn't get to any of the other tasks that she had time blocked out on her calendar for. "Where did the rest of the day go?" she wonders.

As she starts to prepare the dinner, she finds herself lifting her phone to capture some thoughts and to-do's as they come to mind; seeing a message from a client she answers it, incase she forgets, despite the fact it's after five. The client is asking for the file she said she would send after their call. She forgot to upload it - she'd better pop and do that now.

She returns to the kitchen find her 6 year-old having a full-on sulk - he's been trying to tell her all about his latest school project since he came home, but she hadn't been fully listening. The pang of Mum guilt hits hard - she's trying really hard to be more present in the evenings.

After bedtime routines, a final whizz of her emails and socials and zoning out in front of Netflix, she gets to bed around 10pm. As her head hits the pillow she realises she hasn't ironed tomorrow's uniforms or done her journalling - oh well, she'll just set the alarm another hour earlier.?

Sarah is feeling burnout biting at her heels... She is stretched thin, emotionally depleted, and increasingly disconnected from what and those who matter most. It feels like she is in a never-ending loop of striving and struggling, of highs and lows, as Sarah wrestles with trying to stay on top of everything.?

Sarah could be many of the women I speak to everyday - ambitious, loving, caring women who have achieved so much to be proud of but are feeling overwhelmed, overworked. They are craving more space, simplicity and structure in their business - so they have the energy, time and capacity to grow it and to enjoy life outside of it too.

The women who are juggling the role of Mum, Entrepreneur and Partner and trying to do her best at all of them, all of the time. The women sometimes so caught up in just keeping the boat moving, that she doesn't have time to lift her head to see its going in circles.

Make sure and watch out for tomorrow's post where I'll be sharing how Sarah can create the spaciousness she desires,?without sacrificing her success in business or her well-being and relationships outside of it.?
