What made you want to take on a leadership role??I believe I am a natural leader and always gravitated to leadership roles. Throughout my career, I have learned how important it is to be an effective leader. One way to do this is by establishing close connections with my direct reports and colleagues. I am truly passionate about helping and guiding people through their career journey and being someone they can go to for support and advice. It’s such a rewarding feeling when someone you have guided, achieves their goals and you know that you had a part to play to get them there.???
What is the most important (1) trait you look for in a candidate when hiring??My short answer would be common sense. Something that seems so simple yet a trait that is difficult to find. The long answer is proactiveness and initiative. Someone who is not only focused on the current program or task but is also planning and preparing for upcoming needs.
What are your career aspirations??For the last 5 years, I have been developing my skills and abilities as a client manager. Now, I am ready for a new challenge. I want to take my learnings and expertise and within this year become Director of Client Services. I have strong leadership and communication skills and feel that I can add tremendous value to the client services department. My long-term goal is to become VP of client services in the future.
What did you want to be when you grew up??There were so many things I wanted to be when I was younger from being a photographer, to a fashion designer, and even a hairdresser. I always love to be creative and use my imagination.?A quote that has inspired me… “Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning”. ~ Gloria Steinem
What are your challenges as a woman in leadership??Where should I begin…. ?? As a woman I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for most of my career with strong female entrepreneurs. Where I learned from their challenges and accomplishments. These women have shaped the leader I am today. One of the challenges I have faced is that my passion has been mistaken as aggressiveness or at times that my kindness and non-micromanagement approach has been taken advantage of.

How do you maintain work-life balance??This has always been a bit of a struggle for me as I am extremely dedicated and have a hard time leaving things incomplete. As I am the mother of 2 young children who keep teaching me that life is short and sometimes you just need to shut down and walk away. I remind myself that I am not a brain surgeon, the work can wait until tomorrow and it's OK to say NO!
What are you currently listening to??Nothing specific at the moment but I do like my POP music.
What are you currently reading??The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Peale
What book is a must-read for you??– The Secret by Rhonda Byne
How do you relieve stress??Spending time with the ones I love…especially my kids
What are your hobbies outside of work??I play volleyball every Monday night with the same girls for the past 6 years.?I also love to take photos and to explore different places and capture what I see through a camera’s lens
Do you follow any routines??With kids it is always great to have some sort of routine in place…dinner by 6pm, bedtime by 9pm but overall, I don’t follow a set routine.?

1 年Thanks for sharing, it sounds like we are so similar; my greatest joy as a leader is seeing those I am mentoring succeed and grow in their own careers. You know you're doing something right if they are growing and learning! I find it incredibly rewarding to know I have been a part of my client's success AND my team's success; you can't have one without the other!
