Meet the </salties>: Felix Berg

What is your role, and what excites you about working with SALT?
I currently work as a Java instructor after completing the first Java course in Fall 22.
Being able to continuously improve my skills and knowledge about Java and the other technologies we're using while also assisting others in following through this journey makes it fun and exciting to go to work daily.
I get to explore the entire stack, from the database management and repo layers – to the front-end and DevOps stuff, on a weekly basis. Really preparing myself, and others, for the entire tech market. No matter where you might wind up.
Can you mention a project you built after completing the career program?
For fun, after completing the career program, I made my own custom Slack-bot, that reads and evaluates the language a user is typing in and places them "under arrest" if they're sending messages in a prohibited language.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your work before joining SALT
Before joining SALT, I worked various "social" and security jobs. I worked at Klarna in B2B support, at The Swedish Police Authority ???♂? as an operator, and at other financial institutions abroad. Skipping from mostly entry-level jobs was not ideal, so I applied to SALT in order to finally find a sector where I could thrive.
I am originally from Blekinge but enjoy moving around to various places.
How is it to work in the tech business?
Amazing! I get to work every day and do things I genuinely enjoy. The solo-coding projects (for the weird experimentations) and the group projects are a blast. The work is flexible, and there are always more things to learn.
Working with web development, and development in general, feels like being a modern-day wizard. You can create gold out of nothing, and the IDE is the new philosopher's stone.
What random hobbies do you have?
I love sailing; I've lived by the sea my entire life and intend to keep it that way. Surprisingly, I enjoy writing code and playing computer games in my free time. Once in a blue moon, I can also really enjoy going out hiking.
Oh, and adding emojis to Slack is somewhat of a burning passion of mine. If there's a situation without an emoji, there's a flaw in the world.
