Meet Real-life Creators In London This Week
Bernie J Mitchell
?? Coworking Strategist & Creator | I help coworking spaces go from unseen to thriving community hubs
Good Morning London!
One of the most important things you can do is build your community, network or whatever you want to call it.
There is what you see online and what you see in real life.
Meeting real people doing real stuff, and building a relationship with them is one of the best things you can spend time on.
Over ten years ago, I joined a meetup called Kindred, run by Alex Butler.
We were freelancers and creators, and Alex organised us to work in a different coworking space every weekday.
It was here that I got to work in new coworking spaces opening up in London at the time.
This is how I connected so deeply with the emerging London coworking community.
At Kindred, I also met fellow freelancers at different stages of their careers and meeting in real life was different to meeting in a chat room (which is good too!)
I saved hours of pain and agony learning from others at Kindred; I found things like App Sumo for amazing lifetime deals on software for websites, SEO, email newsletters and podcasting.
Our company saves £900 a month because of what we've found on App Sumo* over time.

Creative links worthy of your attention
Jessica Abel created - What should creatives do to make more money? Here.

Before we get into anything, jump over here and see what is coming up in the next few weeks on our Creator Club Meetup page.
"Be a creator, not a consumer." Since 2009 our creator meetups have inspired people like you to become podcasters, bloggers, and artists.
Many people then build products, services, pop-ups and online stores.
________________________________________________________________
The best place to start to meet people is Write Club.
Getting?Write Club back in action has also been good for my creative soul.
The shot above is from Creative Works in E17, where we met on Wednesdays.
You can RSVP here -> Write Club.
I sit around a table three times a week with other people writing and talking about their work.
I'd love you to join us at?Town Square Islington,?Creative Works and?Impact Brixton?weekly.
Come as you are; you don't need to have even started writing.
Pick as many days as you like on the Creator Club Meetup page.

After about 100 years of having a blog and website, my head still hurts about what to write and when.?
But in the last few years, I've been hanging around with Debbie and Connor and watched them practice what they'll share here on multiple projects.
RSVP for this online evening session here on the 7th of July
Join?IMPACT's Director of Membership,?Connor and Founder of?Debbie Ekins & Co.?Debbie.
Debbie and Connor will explore the essential blog topics every business needs to write about to drive more traffic and leads to their business.
You'll hear how to create that content honestly, transparently, and helpfully.
By the end of this discussion with Debbie and Connor, you will leave with:
· five blog topics that will separate you from the rest of your industry by addressing the uncomfortable questions most aren't willing to answer
· The common mistakes we see in content strategy and how to overcome them
· A clear gameplan for how to get your team bought in on writing these topics and supporting your content strategy
RSVP for this online evening session here on the 7th of July

Pamela Wilson joined us at London Bloggers Meet Up this week, but Zoom crashed!
In her total pro way, Pamela shot over to her YouTube Channel, and we went live there; she went live, and I faffed with my tech.
You can watch the whole thing below, don't forget to like and subscribe!
You can get it on YouTube if the video does not show below.
The LinkedIn embed is a bit tricky today!
Near the end, Pamela gives me some direct and painful coaching about launching our handbook for the coworking industry to help people make it inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible.
I've been following Pamela for years on Leading Expert . We even got to have dinner together when I was in Nashville in February 2020, one of the last meals out I had before lockdown!

New Creator Economy Coworking Space In Barking
I will send you over to?this post by Karen?about opening a very special new coworking space for the Creator Economy by Barking station.
_____________________________________________________________
B.T.W. Next Thursday, the 30th of June, I'd LOVE you to come to the launch of?Three Sixty Workrooms?Barking.
Barking is?17 minutes?from Fenchurch Street and?9 minutes?from West Ham, so?RSVP here.
_____________________________________________________________
The?Three Sixty Workrooms?project is unique as it is one of the "new waves" of local Creator Economy coworking spaces in London's zones 4, 5 and 6.
Please look at the branding designed by Bee, an?Urban M.B.A.?graduate and the website built by Jax and our team at?Innocomm here.
The building design is by the?architecture collective Assemble?and is part of the?Barking Enterprise Centre, a non-profit organisation offering free support to small businesses in the borough.
The goal was establishing a genuinely affordable workspace in Barking Town Centre with a social mission and non-profit ethos.

The team above are from Impact Brixton where the 'open mic' night for up-and-coming London creators happens every Friday.
If you are a writer, videographer, entrepreneur, blogger, speaker, D.J., Costume maker, freelancer or doing anything else that enables you to monetise your creativity, you'll feel at home here.
Enjoy happy hour cocktails between 6 pm and 7 pm in the iconic Impact Brixton Black Bar, two minutes from Brixton tube.
You can get your ticket here.
There is something every Friday; you'll find people to learn from and collaborate with; last week, I met Amy Winehouse's guitar player there - for real!
Our Creator Open mic starts at 7 pm sharp.
Grab the mic and talk about what you are working on, what challenges you are facing, what help you need or anything on your mind for that week.
With the kind of people in the room, this is super helpful and safe; every week, I say something out loud and get feedback.
Please feel free to come along if you want to start something, move something along or want to become a creator.
You can go ahead and get your ticket here.
p.s. come for the Write Club at Impact Brixton during the day and stay for Creator Club Happy Hour.

What Does Podcasting Do for LGBTQIA+ Creators?
What does podcasting do for LGBTQIA+ creators? Provides broader communication tools, safety & engagement, and reach based on values.
In our London Podcast Meet Up, there are many voices from the LGBTQIA+ community and other marginalised groups.
The Creator of this post is Lindsay long-time writer at The Podcast Host, which was started by Colin Gray over ten years ago and is one of the most trustworthy places on the web for podcast stuff.
Lindsay makes points in her post that we've seen happen between people over the years, and we hope to see many more.
p.s. If you run a coworking space, join our Coworking I.D.E.A. Project to keep these conversations going all year round.
