Midlife Women are in their Own Business Era: 25 for 25 Rachel Klaver
For so many reasons, midlife women are in their Own Business Era.
I’m lucky to know many women who’ve left corporate culture, and are now building and scaling their own thing. Trademarking their IP, working solo or employing and contracting others.
During December, I’m publishing an alternative advent calendar featuring midlife women who’ve decided to be the boss of their own careers.
This series of posts, 25 for 25, features midlife women on the rise. Behind the next door on my alternative advent calendar is prolific author and self-named career octopus, Rachel Klaver.
Rachel Klaver: career octopus
Rachel Klaver calls herself a career octopus. She’s a content marketing coach and marketing strategist for small businesses (mainly service-based). She’s also got three podcasts on the go and is working on her 29th and 30th books.
Rachel mentions several challenges along the way. Almost completely breaking her business, and then having to rebuild it, really helped her work as a coach. She also lost 60 kg and now has to remind herself that she’s still exactly the same person inside, with the same brain and value, even if others see her differently now she’s thinner.
2025 is for …
Group strategy training days, when Rachel will gather a group of small businesses to either write their marketing strategy and action plan or their content marketing strategy over two days.
Rachel hopes she’s left room in her calendar to write both her 29th and 30th book. One is quite short; the other (on storytelling for small business owners) is all planned out. Rachel has blocked out a day a week in 2025 to get it done.

Inspiration & motivation comes from …
“I love what I do, as every business is different, and because I love and know I'm really good at it (it suits my ADHD brain). Plus I get to talk, think and give solicited advice …”
Rachel’s advice for her younger self
“Back yourself earlier. Work on your money mindset and price yourself better. Be yourself more online, so you find your people faster. And don’t always trust your gut. You need to fix it and your thinking first.”
