Meet Pulkit Trivedi, the New General Manager for Snap India!
Pulkit Trivedi recently joined Snap with a mission to turn Snapchat into one of the most loved brands in India. We recently sat down with him to talk about his background, how he plans to drive user growth, revenue and content consumption for the country, and what he gets up to in his free time.
Team Snap: What excited you most about joining Snap? And what’s one thing that has surprised you since starting?
Pulkit: Snap’s Kind, Smart & Creative values struck a chord with me as they immediately invoke both inspiration and a sense of the company culture. In addition, Snap has pushed the boundaries of what's possible when it comes to digital interaction and engagement, especially with our leadership in AR. Our ability to understand the pulse of the digital age is demonstrated by our massive 750M+ user base from young audiences around the world. I am extremely excited about the significant opportunity ahead of us to grow and serve our Snapchatter community, help our advertiser partners use our platform to achieve their business goals, and help establish our footprint as a leader in AR. Our overarching goal is to continuously create value for our users, our partners, and our customers.
One thing that surprised me is the bold stand that we have taken in communicating to the world that Snap is the ‘antidote’ to social media. Before joining, I never thought about the product and our positioning in this way—but it's so true.?
Team Snap: You’ve joined Snap at an interesting time, what are your initial thoughts about the company and the direction we are heading in?
Pulkit: Snap has built a powerful product infused with creativity, innovation and an understanding of the human experience. Such strong affinity from India’s potential consumer pool is a huge advantage to building a sustainable, high-growth business.
I am excited about the direction that we are taking in focusing on the critical aspects around user growth, user engagement, fostering a strong creator community, building a world-class AR experience, and improving our ad products. It is also very encouraging to see focus and attention on India with a strong 200M+ user base and a community of creators and partners. India is a large digital ads market — and continues to grow. This provides us with an opportunity to start monetizing our large user base while driving our AR leadership, creating a strong business. Our focus on people and our culture of collaboration and ownership is also a catalyst in achieving our ambition.
I call this an ‘uncomfortably exciting’ opportunity. Uncomfortable because it will be incredibly challenging, and exciting as it presents a chance to actively contribute to building a strong, innovative business alongside a great team.

Team Snap: Keeping the direction in mind, what are some of your business priorities for India, and what will you tackle first?
Pulkit: The foundation of any successful business is laid by building a high-performance and happy team. My very first job is to ensure that we build a strong team with people who are respectful of our values and excited about building a sustainable business, who are excited by both the challenges and the opportunities in India. A strong foundation will not only drive user growth and engagement but also boost content consumption in India, ultimately paving the way for substantial revenue growth and the realization of a billion-dollar business within the next five years. An equally important priority is the journey to solidify Snap as a beloved brand in India — a brand that resonates deeply with our community and customers alike.
Team Snap: Prior to joining Snap you were with Google for nearly 5 years. What made you want to join Snap at this point in your career? And what are some learnings from your previous role at Google that you are planning to bring to Snap?
Pulkit: What excites me most about any job are its purpose and the people. These two elements are what truly make any workplace delightful. During my time at Google and with my team at Google Pay, I found both purpose and wonderful individuals. Over the last five years, being a part of building the GPay business in India has been an incredible journey—filled with joy, challenges, a meaningful sense of purpose, and phenomenal learning.
When I started interviewing at Snap, my conversations with inspiring leaders and colleagues revealed a palpable energy and shared passion, vision, and determination to seize the opportunity and build a robust business for Snap in India. Beyond the constant pursuit of creating value for our users, partners, and people, building a business demands grit and resiliency in the face of challenges, the ability to identify opportunities within problems, and the indispensable need—and the inexplicable delight—of doing it as a team. I hope to carry these lessons from my previous roles and integrate them into the exceptional culture at Snap.
Team Snap: What do you like to do in your free time?
Pulkit: My relationships are the cornerstone of my life, a source of unparalleled joy. During my free time, I cherish moments with friends and family. We engage in impassioned discussions covering an array of topics, from cricket and political developments to music. I also find immense delight in listening to my son's endless stream of curious thoughts and opinions, seeing the world through his eyes.
I make an effort to squeeze in brief getaways to the hills, relishing the time spent in nature with great company, music, and conversations. I took up golf three years ago and eagerly anticipate furthering my skills, with hopes of achieving a hole in one someday!
