Meet the President of HEC Alumni - Qatar Chapter: Fadi Nasser, Chief Commercial Officer at Meeza, HEC Paris Executive MBA 2014

Meet Fadi Nasser, HEC Paris Executive MBA 2014 alum and President of HEC Alumni - Qatar Chapter, the university’s second-largest alumni chapter and an important component of the global HEC Paris community. Alumni members in this chapter include top-level executives, decision-makers, senior government representatives and business leaders, sharing a common vision centered around knowledge-based progress and growth via continuous learning and networking.

Can you please tell us about HEC Alumni - Qatar Chapter? What distinguishes Qatar from other alumni communities in the region and how closely are the alumni of the institute connected in Qatar and the region as a whole?

The HEC Alumni - Qatar Chapter benefits from having a campus in the region, leading to tight relationships among members. The large community size, profile of the members, and connection to the Qatar campus through alumni events contribute to the close-knit feeling of the chapter. Regular events further bring the community together, and consistent communication efforts help to reinforce the strong bonds among members and connect them to the wider HEC Paris network.

What compelled you to be an active member – and even later become President – of the alumni chapter?

We all share the desire for professional and personal development within the community. We are grateful to past leaders for establishing a strong foundation for the chapter. As the chapter president, I joined a passionate community and assembled a team to drive the Qatar chapter to new heights by engaging alumni and participants in more dedicated events. With my experience in leading startup initiatives and building sustainable ecosystems across the GCC and North America, I am confident in my ability to motivate and mobilize the community. Today, our team of dedicated volunteers is closer to realizing the community's goal of turning the Qatar Alumni Chapter into a vibrant platform for sharing knowledge, interests, and opportunities.

What events/initiatives does the alumni chapter organize for HEC alumni and participants?

My team and I have established a regular schedule of social events to engage community members. We divided responsibilities among the chapter leadership team to ensure focus and continuity of efforts. This resulted in the creation of three separate teams: 1) Activate, 2) Engage and 3) Mobilize, reflecting their respective functions.

Team Activate increases visibility through diverse communication channels, such as social media, newsletters, and websites. Team Engage is responsible for organizing on and off-campus events, including the Gala Dinner. Team Mobilize is focusing on attracting sponsorships and contributions, partnering with other clubs and chapters worldwide.

The initiatives include physical activities like the Al Walk around Doha parks, HEAT (HEC Expert Alumni Talks) series, visiting speakers’ events, club info sessions, career networking events, alumni-led community initiatives, annual social gatherings, and grand gala events. Team Mobilize connects the global community to HEC Paris in Qatar.

What, in your opinion, helps HEC Paris alumni stand out in their careers amongst others?

When I joined HEC Paris in Qatar, its motto was ‘the more you know, the more you dare’. This applies not only to business knowledge but also to personal growth across social networks. Increased knowledge and networking in Doha bring more opportunities. Being a part of HEC Paris in Qatar's expanding and close-knit community provides participants and alumni with an unparalleled support network, in line with their career goals.
