If companies were truly interested in performance, there would be no reason to force anyone to go back to the office. Keep it entirely professional and let the employee decide what the best way to work is on any given day. If you need to go to the office, go. If you can do it remotely, do it remotely. Why force? If employees are struggling, coach them. Is it really that hard?

Some jobs lend themselves to some work at home. However, the value of teamwork and personal interaction with colleagues cannot be underestimated.
