Esports is a rapidly growing and exciting business area, but it can still feel unfamiliar to many. That’s why we’ve decided to create a series of mini-interviews with our employees to give you a glimpse into who we are and what we do.

I am the Head of Content & Creative and manage the teams responsible for all of our video and digital based content for OG?

I’ve always loved gaming for fun, but hadn’t really considered esports content as a career move until relatively recently. My background is in journalism having worked at the BBC for a number of years. I then joined Red Bull as an Exec Producer and while there I became immersed in the world of esports content, producing series’ and live events across several titles. That was about 6 years ago and I’ve never looked back since!

Ahhh, free time, what a wonderful thing that would be! Just kidding, there are glimmers. When I’m not working, I’m basically a taxi service for my kids, taking them to a seemingly never-ending list of activities. When it comes to me, I love cricket… playing it, watching it, thinking about it, the lot.

I think from a pure technical perspective the live broadcast I led for the Fortnite event, ‘Red Bull Contested’ was right up there with one of the challenging and rewarding things I’ve done, certainly in the esports space.

The passion, enthusiasm, and knowledge here at OG, not just about DOTA, but the whole esports landscape, is incredible. Every day I’m learning something new and hopefully becoming better at what I do as a result.

For anyone looking at a career in esports I’d say really think about which area you want to be in (it’s a vast space), try and talk to someone already doing that, or a similar role, for tips and advice, and don’t give up until you’ve achieved your goal. You’ll be surprised how far pure determination will get you!
