?? Meet Our Team! ??

Esports is a rapidly growing and exciting business area, but it can still feel unfamiliar to many. That’s why we’ve decided to create a series of mini-interviews with our employees to give you a glimpse into who we are and what we do.

Follow along as we introduce you to the people of OG!

Meet:

I'm currently working as Senior Partnerships Manager, which basically splits into two pillars: a) managing the relationships with our current partners, ensuring that all the key deliverables and goals are achieved in a way that leverages both OG and our partners in a fruitful way; b) prospecting new brands with the same values as OG and find ways to collaborate together.

I've been a gamer since little, playing mostly competitive online games. Since very young I was either playing for amateur teams or trying to help managing small amateur Portuguese organizations. Once I finished my degree in the Communication field, it was clear to me that I wanted to mix both areas: Communication/Marketing and Esports. After some years in agencies and tech startups, my first professional experience in Esports was at Twire.gg , a PUBG Esports data and fantasy platform as a Marketing Manager, and from there I jumped to OG Esports.

I would need to split these in two categories: our partnered content and our partners' integration at events.

OG has been in the forefront of HQ content with series such as "Road to TI" or "Origins". These are great examples of how by working with our partners, we can provide valuable branded content to our fanbase and community, something that truly adds value to them, running away from the traditional and common pure advertising model.

At the same level, our OG Hubs - the local fan hubs where we welcome fans in the cities of major tournaments - has been something that I couldn't be more proud of the evolution we have been showing and the unique ways we have been activating and providing value to our partners there.

This picture was taken on my first event ever with OG - the ESL One Stockholm Major in 2022. I went there, with most of the OG Staff to help running our OG Monkey Business Show from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere and welcome some of our partners and fans. Having the chance to meet many of my fellow colleagues in-person for the first time was something special, and on top of that we all had the chance to see OG lifting a Major trophy after some insane comebacks. The adrenaline and ecstasy feeling were unique and will always be one of the most memorable experiences at OG.

Providing lifetime memories for our fans. At the end of the day an Esports Org doesn't exist without its fans. It's our most valuable asset and is what gives us meaning. In my first event ever (the one that I shared the picture), after OG won the event, our players came to the OG Hub with the trophy. It was a magical moment where fans managed to meet the players right after a major achievement. At some point I saw a fan bursting in tears while meeting one of the players and taking a photo with him and the trophy, and that really clicked me - this is what matters. OG has a strong impact in many people's lives and that not only gives a strong purpose for your work, but also a strong responsibility.

Being passionate about Esports is great but is not enough. Make sure that you keep learning, developing and master your area of interest, whether is Events, Marketing, Design, etc. And the same for the other way around - if you're an experienced professional that wants to enter in the Esports world but are not that familiar with it, make sure to learn, understand the environment, the fans, and what drives this ecosystem that grows each day.
