Meet our Super Crew

Meet our Super Crew

Every year at McDonald’s Qatar, we hold an annual Super Crew competition in our continuous efforts to recognize and reward our McFamily members who excel in their roles. The competition takes place mid-year, and participants with at least three month’s of experience compete from across all 67 of our branches in Qatar.?

The exciting Super Crew competition consists of three parts: Restaurant Level Exams, On-floor Assessment, Personality and Overall Assessment from the Managers.

This year when the competition ended, nine winners were crowned at the Super Crew awarding ceremony (five of who were women!).

After the competition, we picked the brains of the top three winners and asked them about their thoughts regarding the Super Crew competition.?

What is the most challenging part of the Super Crew competition?

The most challenging part of the ?Super Crew competition is that I had to compete against very competitive and talented crew members. The eagerness to win (in everybody!) created a healthy competitive environment amongst all colleagues participating this year.

The drive to win this competition empowered me to study extra hard after my shifts, pay more attention to my overall personal growth in the team, and elevate my problem-solving skills.

The Super Crew competition taught me a lot: it boosted my confidence, improved my way of thinking, and motivated me to speak up. In addition, it solidified my belief that McDonald’s Qatar is one of the most people-oriented employers in the country especially when it comes to investing in their people.

?How would you use being the recipient of this award to influence others?

It’s an honor being the runner-up to the Super Crew winner. Partaking in this year’s competition has improved my attention to detail, my sense of responsibility, in addition to my team working and interpersonal skills. Today, my self-belief and confidence have doubled, especially with the support from my colleagues which encouraged me to be dedicated and perform exceptionally.

Now that the competition is over, it is my newfound duty to pass on my experience to my teammates. A part of that role is to encourage them as well as advise them on best practices to overcome challenges. Personally, I look forward to sharing my learning experience during the competition with my colleagues. In turn, I hope this will motivate them and help each other be the best crew we can be.

Where do you imagine yourself in the McDonald’s Family in 5 years? In 10 years?

Five years from now, I see myself working to the position of a Coordinator or 2nd Assistant Manager in McDonald’s Qatar. Whereas, before hitting the 10-year?mark, I see myself becoming a Restaurant Leader. I can see this happen, as McDonald’s Qatar has a rich history of always developing and promoting talented people. In fact, many Restaurant Managers who have successfully developed careers with McDonald’s Qatar initially started as crew members—and this inspires the rest of us to dream big.

Receiving this award proved to me and my fellow crew members that McDonald's Qatar cares about its McFamily, and they take responsibility to invest in their people by educating and training us into the next generation of successful leaders.
