Meet Our Summer Intern: Tamer Srouji
B2Q Associates
Engineering consulting firm specializing in design, energy efficiency, commissioning and utility infrastructure projects
Ever wondered what it's like to intern at B2Q Associates? Let's hear from Tamer, our talented summer intern, as he shares his experiences and insights!
1?? What inspired you to pursue a career in the mechanical engineering field and how did you end up interning with B2Q Associates? "A certain predilection for math and design-based learning in my early education led me to mechanical engineering, and a fascination for the built environment led me to HVAC consulting. I had worked at an MEP design firm last summer and was excited to learn that there was one in my hometown that had a strong emphasis on energy efficiency."
2?? Is there a specific project or task you've been working on during your time at B2Q Associates that has been particularly exciting or insightful? "Wheatley Hall is a university building at UMass Boston that I've been working on since the very first day of my internship at B2Q. It's a massive project in both size and scope and one of the most enriching ones by far."
3?? How have you found working alongside the B2Q Associates team? Any memorable experiences or lessons you'd like to share? "The B2Q team has been extremely welcoming and informative, they have made it abundantly clear that they prioritize my development and will rarely not indulge in any and all questions that I have."
4?? How would you describe the work environment here, and how has it contributed to your overall internship experience? "The work environment was pleasant, there's flexibility with the split between in-person and work from home that let me find a comfortable balance and work efficiently."

5?? As your internship journey with B2Q Associates comes to an end, what are your aspirations and goals for the future, both within the mechanical engineering field and beyond? "I plan on returning to B2Q this winter! Beyond that, working within the energy efficiency department has introduced me to a dynamic between consultant engineers like B2Q and programs like MassSave or local utilities that have piqued my interest."
6?? Is there any advice you would give to fellow students or individuals considering an internship based on your own experiences here at B2Q Associates? "A unique strength of B2Q is its size. Shortly after joining, I met nearly everyone in the office and felt quickly incorporated within the company and acquainted with all its moving parts. I found that talking with my coworkers and tapping into their wealth of knowledge was the best way to get industry insights and learn more."
