Meet our Principal Coach
Today I'd like to share the following introduction, written by?Neshat Amirfathi, our principal coach on our?Digital Habit Reset course.
My name is Neshat, and I’m the Principal Coach at Mind over Tech.
There was a specific moment in my life when I realised I wanted to work with business leaders to help them strengthen their relationships and evoke a deeper personal transformation.
After completing my MBA I was working as a Country Manager at a global digital consultancy in Iran when my mother was diagnosed with cancer.
I took a 6-month sabbatical to take care of her, and when she passed away I realised I wasn’t ready to return to the intensity of my old life. As part of my healing process and driven by my life-long interest in personal development, I decided to complete a coaching qualification in London.
On the final day of the course we were asked to share our life story with the group, speaking from twenty years in the future.
In that moment I realised I had changed path. I felt a new purpose to continue this work for others with a focus on building connection and finding agency.
In 2019 I founded my coaching practice and started working with business leaders, in particular professionals new to management. As the COVID pandemic hit a large part of my work involved supporting them with the impact of remote working, and the physical and mental challenge of virtual engagement.
In 2021 I went on a digital detox retreat I had wanted to attend for 15 years. As I arrived at the retreat centre just outside of Brighton in the UK my first task was to lock my phone in a box.
This was exactly what I had signed up for, but what I didn’t expect was that my husband’s overdue surgery would be scheduled on day five of the retreat. My desire to call and message him was so strong I nearly walked out.
In the end, I allowed myself one call with him one hour before the operation.
The call was so powerful and meant so much, I realised that it was enough. In fact, it was perfect. He didn’t need me to do any more, and the experience challenged my assumptions of modern-day communication.
Is more communication better communication?
As I started to explore the coaching approach for the Digital Habit Reset my focus has been on ensuring a personalised experience for every learner. Everyone has a different relationship with technology, and my role will be to help you find your opportunity for personal transformation in this space.
I bring my awareness of life as a busy professional, my experience working with leaders in high pressure roles and my passion for the power of relationships.
I did not heal from the loss of my mother alone. We will do this together.
I look forward to supporting you on your journey. You can join us here.

He firmly believes that exploring our digital habits can turn the mundane reality of emailing and zooming into fuel for personal transformation.
