Meet our People: Joe Maranino

What has been your greatest accomplishment since starting at CM&B?

I look at this in two different ways.?First, I think establishing relationships, whether it’s been internally within CM&B, or externally with clients and subcontractors, is most meaningful.?Having developed quality relationships and being a person that other people want to work with day in and day out is extremely important.??Secondly, more job-specific related, I would say transitioning to a Senior PM role.?After spending the last 13 years as a superintendent, moving to the office has allowed me to grow in my new role and become more well-rounded, having now experienced both sides of the industry.

Who/what has been most influential in your career and growth?

Throughout my career, whether high-rise residential or commercial, I have been extremely fortunate to have worked with and learned from several extremely knowledgeable mentors within the industry. However, more importantly, as you get older, you start to realize that the basic skills you learn throughout your life are more important than just industry-specific knowledge. Whether on a construction site or the baseball field, my father instilled in me the importance of a strong work ethic, something I have carried with me throughout my career.

As a Project Manager, what advice would you give to someone interested in the field of construction management?

  • Find a mentor and listen. You won’t learn if you don’t listen.
  • Ask questions. You will learn something new every day, no matter how long you have been in the industry.
  • Visit the job site often. To be a great builder, you must have boots-on-the-ground experience.

What do you strive to build in your everyday life?

I strive to build a strong foundation in my career and family. I have an amazing wife and two incredible boys; everything I do is for them. Throughout my everyday life, it’s simple --?be an example for my boys, be someone they can look up to, and hopefully instill the same values my parents had for me.?

During the 3 years that I worked in NY, I had the pleasure of working with Joe for most of that time. His knowledge of the means & methods of construction was without a doubt, evident from the day that we met and was very beneficial to the success of the projects that we worked on. His presence on both of those project was a definite plus to me. Not only did a gain a great relationship with Joe as a Superintendent but I am lucky enough to have gained a great friend for life. Congratulations Joe !!
