Meet Our New Leadership Council Co-Chairs

Meet Our New Leadership Council Co-Chairs

At its recent meeting, the Leadership Council elected two new Co-Chairs -?Christine Stadler?and?Mark Jaeger?- to lead The Encore Network during the next year, and we’re excited to introduce them to you.

Christine Stadler?came to The Encore Network through the Gen2Gen Initiative when she served as an Encore Fellow in a Cleveland nonprofit. Since our spinoff from Encore.org, Chris has been a member of the Program Committee and, more recently, Secretary of the Leadership Council. Earlier in her career, she held marketing positions in telecom and tech companies and, for the past 20 years, led a consulting practice serving the business development and strategy needs of businesses and nonprofits.

Mark Jaeger?is a newcomer to The Encore Network, discovering us as he set out to create an encore life following his retirement. He joined as our Treasurer earlier this year. Mark’s career in financial services firms included a variety of investment and operations roles. He led these businesses through mergers, integrations and other changes. His work for financial planning firms offered insight about the need for people to think purposefully about the encore stage of life, not just about their finances.?

Together, Chris and Mark bring complementary skills and experience that add essential strength to our leadership as we continue to build a sustainable organization.?

After Janine Vanderburg stepped down as Chair of the Leadership Council in February, Chris Stadler became our Interim Chair. She helped lead the Council through a strategic planning process that identified key objectives for membership, programs, finance and fundraising, operations, marketing and communications.?

Now our task is to implement these plans to put The Encore Network on a sound footing for the future. We believe that shared leadership will help us achieve this enormous task. Chris and Mark will divide oversight and coordination of our work groups and committees to make that effort more manageable. We enthusiastically welcome Chris and Mark to their new roles!

What We Learned from the July?Encore Network Program:

How to Use the Age-Friendly Employers Guide to Reach Employers

and Other Audiences

In our July 19 member program, we heard from Advocacy Committee co-chair and well known speaker on the business case for older workers and intergenerational teams, Janine Vanderburg. Janine demonstrated how Encore Network Members can present The Encore Network’s Employer guide as part of our outreach to employers and others who can benefit from the guide. Janine ran through a flexible, customizable presentation, and explained how to tailor the presentation for various audiences and purposes. We’re thrilled that Encore Network member Laurie Petersen has reported already using the presentation in a talk she gave, with great results. You can too.
