Meet our Directors – Yarisel Sanchez

Describe your career path at BHCR.

I started my career at BHCR in 2018 as a Slot Technician. After some time, I transitioned to the IT Department as a PC Technician. A year later, I moved into the Marketing Department, taking on the role of Database Coordinator. From there, I progressed to Database Supervisor, then Manager, and since 2022, I’ve been the Director of Marketing.

What made you decide to work at the casino?

A friend told me about a BHCR job fair on my way to the gym. I decided to stop by and check it out. I had an interview on the spot and was hired as a Slot Technician.

What is the best career advice you have received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to embrace continuous learning and adaptability. It reminds me that growth comes from being open to new challenges and expanding my skill set, even if it means stepping outside my comfort zone. This mindset has helped me seize opportunities and navigate changes throughout my life.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

One of the most rewarding experiences in my role is seeing the full cycle of an idea transform into a successful promotion and then witnessing its impact by analyzing the results. From brainstorming and strategizing, to collaborating with the team on execution, and finally analyzing the outcomes it's satisfying to see how a concept evolves and drives tangible success for the company.

Share a book or podcast recommendation that has significantly impacted your career.

The first thing that comes to mind is Angela Duckworth's book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance. I read it a couple of years ago, and it reinforced the idea that sustained effort over time, combined with a strong sense of purpose, is essential for achieving long-term goals.

What’s your most memorable lesson from a mentor or role model?

In my first job, fresh out of college, I had an incredible boss who taught me that setbacks are inevitable, but how I responded to them defined my success. Instead of being discouraged by obstacles, I learned to view them as opportunities for growth.

What’s a hobby or interest of yours that people might be surprised to learn about?

I am passionate about rock concerts, love to travel and explore new places, and can easily lose myself in a good book for hours.
