Describe your career path at Boot Hill Casino & Resort.

I spent nine years in my previous role and felt I needed a change. I was hired as a Cage Shift Manager, and from day one, I was hooked! A year and a half later, I was asked to move to the Finance Department, where I spent eleven years working on the Revenue Audit Team. Then, I was asked to return to the Cage, and I couldn’t have been more excited. What an adventure so far!?

What made you decide to work at the Casino?

I was ready for a shift from my accounts payable job and took a chance on the casino world. The work is exciting, and I’m really glad I made the move.

What’s your favorite part of your job?

Every day is a new adventure. I never quite know what to expect, and that keeps things exciting. I’m constantly learning something new, and I hope it continues for a long time.

What’s your most memorable lesson from a mentor or role model?

Most things are fixable. If you make a mistake, own it, learn from it, and always strive to improve. That’s something I carry with me every day.

If you could switch roles with any Team Member for a day, who would it be and why?

I really love what I do, so I’m happy staying right where I am. I think I’ve found my perfect role.?

What’s a hobby or interest of yours that people might be surprised to learn about?

I love to garden. My yard has a beautiful stream that is landscaped with many different plants to attract butterflies and bees. It brings me much happiness and peace.?

Share a favorite leadership quote or mantra.

When I was stressing about moving back to the Cage, my daughter sent me a quote that I keep on my bulletin board: ‘If you're not just a little bit nervous before a match, you probably don’t have the expectations of yourself that you should have.’ – Hale Irwin. I look at it every day. It’s a good reminder to push myself and embrace new challenges.

Was so excited when you joined us as our cage director. ?Working graves I don’t see you a lot but I know you are always here for us.
