Describe your career path at Boot Hill Casino & Resort.

I began my career at Boot Hill Casino & Resort as a Financial Analyst, where I developed a strong foundation in finance and analysis. Through hard work and dedication, I progressed to the roles of Assistant Controller and, eventually, Controller. In 2016, when Diane Giardine took over as General Manager, she invited me to join her leadership team as an Assistant General Manager. This opportunity was both exciting and rewarding, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this role.

What is your favorite part about your position?

What I appreciate most about my journey here is not just the professional growth but also the incredible people I work with. Our team fosters a collaborative and supportive environment, making each day enjoyable and fulfilling. I'm proud to be part of Boot Hill Casino & Resort and look forward to continuing to contribute to our success. My favorite part of my job is collaborating with a fantastic team of people to achieve our common goals. There's something gratifying about working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another.

What made you decide to work at BHCR?

I was drawn to Boot Hill Casino & Resort because I was excited about the opportunity to contribute to an exciting and growing business. From the outset, I recognized the potential for both personal and professional growth within the company. I was eager to take on new challenges and worked diligently to position myself to capitalize on the various opportunities that arose. Being part of such a dynamic environment has been incredibly rewarding, and I'm proud to contribute to our ongoing success.

What is the best career advice you have received?

The best career advice I ever received came from a colleague and mentor who encouraged me to "get comfortable being uncomfortable." He emphasized that while staying in our comfort zones is tempting, true growth often arises from embracing discomfort. This perspective has been a guiding principle for me, reminding me that challenges and uncertainties can be powerful catalysts for personal and professional development. By pushing through discomfort, I've seized opportunities and expanded my skill set in ways I never imagined.

Share a book or podcast recommendation that has significantly impacted your career.

One of my favorite podcasts is David Novak's How Leaders Lead. I enjoy it because he features many great leaders who share their insights and experiences. Each episode is filled with valuable lessons and practical advice that inspire me to grow both personally and professionally.

What is a hobby or interest of yours that people might be surprised to learn about?

When it comes to my hobbies, I genuinely enjoy coaching my daughters in their youth sports. It's rewarding to be involved in their activities and watch them grow both as athletes and individuals. I also enjoy spending quality time and traveling with my wife and three daughters. We really enjoy our time on the beach together; there's nothing quite like the sun, sand, and family bonding by the ocean! In addition to that, I love golfing and hunting when I get the chance—both activities offer a great way to relax and recharge.?
