Meet our Directors! Director of Food & Beverage

This month, we’re featuring our Director of Food & Beverage, Jessica Hertel!

Describe your career path at BHCR.

I have been with BHCR for a little over eleven years. I started out here when I was eighteen-years-old and have been here ever since! I started as a Food Server/Hostess/Cashier, and when I turned 21, I moved into Bartending and Cocktail Serving. I took on the role of F&B Manager in 2017 and absolutely loved it! In 2020, I was promoted to Director of F&B, and I continue to love all the opportunities this position offers.?

What made you decide to work at Boot Hill Casino & Resort?

Back when I was 18, one of my friends who was working here told me how great their job was, so I applied, too. I got the job and have been here ever since – eleven years later!

What is the best career advice you have received?

You have good days and bad days, but you can’t let the bad days outweigh the good ones.

What is your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy working in the restaurant and bars. I like talking to people every day and serving them the best food and beverages. I love to see how much enjoyment people get out of the products that we serve them and watch them have an amazing experience.

If you could switch roles with any Team Member for a day, who would it be and why?

I would go back to being a bartender. That was my favorite position I worked throughout my journey here. I always have a fun time visiting with Patrons and hearing their stories.

What is a hobby or interest of yours that people might be surprised to learn about?

I really enjoy golfing and fishing in my free time. These are things that my dad always loved to do, and I have always done them with him growing up. My perfect day would be a day out at the lake or on the golf course with him.
