Meet our Director of Business Development, Paul Karpel

In 2019, Paul Karpel joined ECI during our Account Manager expansion.? Residing in Colorado, Paul saw ECI as an excellent workplace and an opportunity to get back to the Northeast, to spend time closer to family.? After joining. He and his now-wife moved to New Hampshire, where he thrived as an Account Manager supporting our teams in the region.? After two years in the Account Manager role, Paul joined the Business Development team at ECI and moved to Salt Lake City, UT to support clients and development in the West.?? ?Paul has quickly proven himself a leader within ECI and was most recently promoted to Director of Business Development in late 2023.

Like most kids coming out of high school he had no idea what he wanted to do when he grew up. Paul considered attending forestry school in pursuit of a career that aligned with his affinity for the outdoors but decided to study a more open-ended degree at SUNY Oneonta in Business Economics with a concentration in marketing. While at Oneonta he was active with the school’s mountain biking club building and maintaining miles of trails and riding every chance he got. He was working towards a minor in outdoor education while at Oneonta, but funding was cut for the program and unfortunately, he fell a few credits shy. ?Paul was however fortunate enough to use his skills learned in the program to land a kayak guiding job in Seward, Alaska the summer of his junior year.

Paul's passions largely revolve around the outdoors. He loves being a part of the natural environment and exploring new places. He spends a lot of his free time biking, hiking, running, skiing, and exploring with his wife Katie and dog Maya. Paul represented ECI in September 2023 on the Tour des Trees, a long-distance cycling adventure of over 400 miles, riding and raising money for the TREE fund. When Paul isn't active in the outdoors, he enjoys working in his garden and figuring out how to squeeze more trees into his small Salt Lake City yard.

Under Paul's leadership on the ECI Business Development team, ECI is set to achieve new milestones by expanding both our UVM business and environmental services within the Utility Industry.
