Meet Our CTO

I recently read an article by Ilia Kiselevich for Brainz Magazine about why it is critical for a tech start-up to have a chief technology officer (CTO).
It’s an opinion I firmly agree with and know, first-hand, the value of having a CTO in the development of our cryptocurrency platform, Moni Talks .
But there’s more to it than simply filling the role. Having the right person in the CTO position is essential.
Our Experience
During our journey, we have faced technical challenges, just as any innovative digital platform would expect.
Delivering the ambitious plans we have for Moni Talks - which revolve around the concept of creating a dedicated cryptocurrency ecosystem with a social platform at its centre – would be a test for any dev team.
During our development phase, we had to make the difficult, but correct, decision to swap to a new dev team.
Identifying where you need change and quickly addressing that is vital to keep any project on track and moving forward.
It was this change which brought us to Rick Landman .
Meet Rick
From our first meeting, it was clear that Rick not only understood our mission at Moni Talks, but that he also shared our enthusiasm.
He not only had solutions to help us achieve our plans, but suggestions about how we could go further and be better.
Rick has more than a decade of experience in architecting, leading and scaling enterprise technology solutions. During this time, he has developed a deep understanding of how to leverage technology to improve business processes and create competitive advantages.
His expertise, specifically in blockchain, software architecture, regulatory compliance, infrastructure, and information security, precisely matched what we needed at Moni Talks.
We have benefited from his ability to communicate clearly, making often complex technical matters accessible and understandable to all. We have enjoyed his innovation and his collaborative spirit. When presented with our latest great idea, his response is never “we can’t do that”. It is always “let me figure out how we’re going to do that”.
It was a huge day for everyone at Moni Talks when Rick agreed to become out CTO, alongside his responsibilities in that role at Infinex Partners.
The Work
Regular readers will have seen me share updates on our development process in previous Beyond the Boardroom newsletters. These are based on the reports Rick prepares for us, explaining what has been done, where projects are up to, schedules, solutions, and next steps.
While we talk with Rick almost every day, receiving regular written progress reports has ensured our whole team has a much closer understanding of what’s happening, when, and why.

Right now, there are several major projects under Rick’s watchful eye. These include delivering a refreshed Moni Talks website, deploying our trading platform, Trade Moni, and completing our core component, the social platform Talk Moni.
Alongside this, he is overseeing the infrastructure behind our pre-IEO, another hugely significant project.
We have been demanding. We want Moni Talks to deliver a unique UX, we want it to have the highest levels of security, we want it to be functional and scalable, we want it to work, flawlessly.
Rick has taken all of this in his stride, ensuring the dev team fully understands what is needed and guiding them – and the rest of the team – through every step towards our ultimate goal.
Being CTO at Moni Talks is such a crucial role, so I thought it was worth taking time in this week’s newsletter to introduce you to Rick. I hope you enjoyed meeting him.
