Hi Lisa, lovely to see you! Thank you for taking the time to talk to us.

Hi, I′m happy to be here.

Let′s start with the basics: What is your role at Orbit?

I am a Fund Associate working in Orbit’s GP-advisory team focusing on fund structuring, regulatory advice, and secondaries which involves a wide spectrum of matters and areas of law.

And where are you from? What was it like to grow up there?

I was born in Munich and spent the majority of my childhood there of which I have very happy memories. Before coming to Berlin my family and I moved to Vienna and lived there for some years. Moving at a young age can be hard but when I look back now, I am thankful I have a connection to both of these fantastic cities and the nature that surrounds them. It also helped me learn how to adapt to new environments and make new friends.

That sounds really exciting but also challenging. That’s great to hear that it has had a positive impact on you. What was your childhood dream job or career?

For a long time, I wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher. I still find it fascinating how kids see and live life. Later on, during my early youth I already developed my interest in the legal profession while my ideas included rather classic legal career pathways as a judge or litigation lawyer. Back then I was not aware of the great and varied opportunities the fund industry has to offer:-))

Yes, I'm sure many people feel that way. Another reason for our interviews: we show how exciting work the fund world has to offer and how wonderful people we have in our team. What is one thing that creates a successful team?

A successful team consists of team members with different profiles, strengths, and skills which, when combined, complement and harmonize with each other. In addition to this combination of characteristics team members should be trusting each other, willing to help, and open to different opinions as well as constructive criticism. How far a team can go is also of course determined by drive, commitment, and ambition.

Absolutely! Who is someone you admire professionally and why?

From a professional standpoint, I admire resilience, courage, and modesty. My grandfather had all of these characteristics. His childhood and youth were determined by severe difficulties. As the first member of his family with graduate-level studies, he dared to break new ground and study abroad. Even though he became a very successful prosecutor, he always remained down-to-earth.

What is one thing that you’re excited about in your industry?

I am excited about the future-oriented and innovative spirit of the private equity and venture capital industry. You often get to meet and work with people with a very inspiring and visionary mindset who truly think out of the box and are willing to take on high risks to achieve their goals. This creates an exceptionally energetic, dynamic, and demanding atmosphere.

What would you say to a young person who is just starting their career?

Whether you are faced with success or failure, remember, you are never as good or as bad as you think you are.

What a true closing statement. Thank you so much, Lisa!

Thanks for having me!
