In today’s interview, we are talking to Anne Frommann .

Hi Anne, thank you for coming!

Hello, it's great to be here.

First off, tell us what your role at Orbit is.

I am a Fund Counsel at Orbit. I have been with Orbit since the beginning of its wonderful journey. After over 17 years of experience in advising institutional LPs, I am very glad to be part of Orbit’s LP advisory team. In addition to fund due diligence and my daily LP advisory together with Joachim Mogck , I train new high potentials to become the best LP advisors and to strengthen our team.

Where are you from? And what was it like to grow up there?

After two years in Geneva during my kindergarten time, my family moved to Berlin. Although I grew up in Berlin, I feel most at home in a small village in the mountains of Upper Lusatia where my family is from and where I spent nearly all of my childhood holidays at my grandparent's place. I love being there and enjoying nature, hiking, gardening, peace and quiet. Someday in the future, I am going to move there.

That sounds lovely. What was your childhood dream job or career?

As a teenager, I wanted to become an architect. Together with a friend of mine who wanted to become an interior designer, we planned on setting up our own firm. But life has its own plans. My friend has found her way into the real estate market. And I decided to study business law. My father was the manager of the German Private Equity and Venture Capital Association, therefore I was in contact with the private equity industry at a very early age. Maybe becoming part of the legal side of private equity was meant to be.

In your opinion, what is something that creates a successful team?

A successful team consists of people living the same spirit and ideas and pursuing the same objective. That does not mean that everyone must be similar or even identical. It is important to share the same goal and move in the same direction. This requires enthusiasm, ambition, commitment, passion and most importantly good communication, feedback culture and good leadership.

Who is someone you admire professionally and why?

I generally admire people who live their dreams, create something of their own and rock their lives independently of what other people may say or fear.

What is one thing that you’re excited about in your industry?

I am excited about the steady developments in the private equity industry. Legal tech tools can make legal reviews and the client’s investment process so much more efficient. For example, our new Fund Scoring Tool visualizes the analysis of fund terms based on market standards and measures them through scores. The Fund Scoring Tool enables clients to have an overview of all important key findings that really matter and to compare term levels across different vintages of the same manager and across other comparable fund products, including in respect of asset class and fund size. Simultaneously, the market conditions and their changes in development are considered. We are glad to have been able to develop such a tool, big thanks to Mar High and Fabian Wulf for all their work on this, and we are grateful for the positive feedback we receive from our clients.

Last but not least, please give a tip to a young person who is just starting their career.

Find and understand yourself, your dreams and what really matters to you, and then trust yourself. Only a few people know exactly what they really want for their life after they finish school, the majority still needs to figure this out. Therefore, try and have many differing experiences, explore the world and surround yourself with really good and inspiring people. The journey is your reward. If you feel good with yourself, you will succeed in everything you want.
