Talent Acquisition Lead @ UGL | Driving Talent Acquisition for Transport Projects & Utilities
"I am currently a communications engineer working on the M6 Stage 1 tunnel project in Sydney. I am looking after the emergency telephone and GNSS design. The M6 project has been a fantastic opportunity for me to learn more about all aspects of a large-scale project, from technical design and supplier engagement/management to testing and construction.
I came from a background working in R&D as a mechatronics engineer. So, starting off at UGL in the graduate program out in Tallawong on NWRL Defect Liability, was a great introduction to the major projects UGL is involved in as well as the telecommunications discipline.
UGL is full of a lot of great people who are a genuine pleasure to work with and learn from. It is easy to find the support you need whenever you approach someone to find it. Whether you want to learn new skills, try out new roles, or just have a conversation about your week.
Outside of UGL, I spend a lot of time with my partner, family and friends. I enjoy hiking, camping, painting, sewing, and martial arts. My major weekly commitment is to Taekwondo. Last year I worked towards getting my second-degree black belt, and after being punched in the face a few more times than I care to admit – I got it. Having grown up in Hong Kong, I developed a love for travelling, and you can often see me planning for my next trip! In 2024 I will be attending an international Taekwondo seminar in New Zealand, as well as traveling internationally for weddings and high school reunions.
I also love to give back to UTS in many ways, as well as serving on the UTS Young Alumni Committee, I often tutor first year engineering subjects or volunteer to be an industry design guide or panel member at events. I did not grow up with many female engineering role models, so I like to do all that I can to hopefully be that for even one person."
