Meet Myra Ashley!

Myra Ashley Woodard came to serve in Maine from Atlanta Georgia. She currently serves at the Root Cellar in Portland and Lewiston Maine. She coordinates the English Language Program for each location. ?She recruits and manages volunteer teachers and tutors and maintains their student registration systems.?

When asked about the best part of her position she said: The students! They work very hard to learn English and provide for their families. I have loved the friendships I have built with these students and the things I have learned from them”?

When asked why she served her passion for helping others shined through “Because I want to put others before myself and love my neighbor. The immigrants coming to our cities are our newest neighbors, in need of love and friendship!”?
