Missy Truchon, Our Featured RSW for February 2020

Meet Missy Truchon, Our Next Featured RSW!

Hi, everyone.

I hope your New Year is off to a great start. It is time to kick off the New Year with another addition to my Rehabilitation Support Worker Profile blog for February.

Thank you to everyone who liked, commented on, and shared my previous article about Alison Walker!

For those of you who haven’t read my other RSW profiles, here’s some background. I’ve decided to spotlight the amazing Rehabilitation Support Worker Associates whom we partner with at Bartimaeus Rehabilitation Services. They don’t often receive the public recognition that they deserve for positively impacting so many lives. Hopefully, these blog articles will change that!

Meet Missy Truchon, Our Next Featured RSW!

It is a pleasure to introduce you to Missy Truchon.

Missy is happy to be making a difference with Bartimaeus since November 2013.

Missy started her journey towards becoming an RSW by completing her Social Service Worker Diploma in North Bay at Canadore College. Missy's extensive list of certifications includes First-Aid, CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. If that wasn't enough, she has a vast amount of knowledge and experience through being a Family, Community, and Residential Support Worker.

On a personal level, Missy's husband lives with both a brain and spinal cord injury. She understands the resources and care needed to support people with an ABI (acquired brain injury).

Supporting her clients isn't just a "job", according to Missy. She says it is more about connecting with clients personally and helping them reach their goals. Missy finds it natural to create great working relationships with her clients while having always having a sense of humour. Missy's clients appreciate the fact that she is flexible and easy-going, while also keeping them organized and on track towards their goals.

Missy in her off-time loves spending time with her family. She enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking with her two daughters.

I asked Missy how she got into the helping field. She told me a story in high school when she used to babysit a girl with autism. Every day was different and a new challenge. Missy realized the impact she had after seeing the smile on the girl's face. The feeling of making a difference helped her pursue the helping field.

Thank you, Missy, for the hard work and dedication you show to all of your clients.

You are a key part to our team and I look forward to continually seeing the difference you make to the lives you touch.
