Meet Mike Larsen

What do you love about working for Zions Bancorporation?

It is with much joy that I express my fondness for the illustrious Online Banking team at Zions Bancorporation. Collaborating with the online banking squad has been nothing short of a delightful adventure. Our colleagues are not just our greatest assets; they’re the superheroes in business casual, transforming our workplace into a hub of innovation and camaraderie.

?

Our commitment to customer satisfaction is as steadfast as our love for a good coffee break. We don’t just enhance products; we sprinkle a bit of magic into every feature, always with an eye on crafting a customer experience so seamless, it’s as if our services come with a virtual red carpet. Each upgrade is meticulously designed to simplify our customers’ financial journeys, because let’s face it, everyone deserves a bit of financial wizardry in their lives.

?

What is something unique about you?

I consider myself a problem-solver at heart. When faced with a challenge, I approach it with a solution-oriented mindset, exploring various avenues to resolve the issue at hand. My persistence is unwavering, and I remain committed to finding an effective solution, even if it requires extra effort on my part. The satisfaction of overcoming obstacles is my driving force, ensuring that no problem goes unsolved.

?

What project are you currently most focused on?

I am engaged in an exciting project aimed at integrating mortgage accounts into our online banking platform. This initiative will provide customers with the convenience of viewing their mortgage details directly within the online banking interface. It will include access to payment schedules, escrow balances, and other pertinent information related to their mortgage accounts, enhancing transparency and ease of data access.

?

What is your proudest professional accomplishment?

I look back with a sense of pride (and a hint of nostalgia) on the epic adventure Steven Aguirre and I, along with many others embarked upon, navigating the treacherous seas of data migration. From the quaint shores of ACI 1.0 to the bustling harbors of ACI 3.7, we charted a course through the digital waves. Not ones to rest on our laurels, we set sail once more, upgrading our vessel to the sleek and modern D3 Digital banking application. It was a journey of technological triumphs, a testament to our spirit of innovation and a dash of good old-fashioned teamwork.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment?

A few years back, as we anticipated the arrival of my eldest progeny, I had an epiphany: our family abode needed a finished basement. Armed with a stack of DIY manuals that could rival the height of a toddler, I became a jack-of-all-trades—framing, plumbing, HVAC, you name it. I dove into the depths of our basement, emerging victorious with every task mastered, save for the carpeting. That, I graciously left to the professionals.

?

Not only did I emerge unscathed, but I also managed to impress the county inspectors, passing each inspection with flying colors—a feat akin to a culinary novice nailing a soufflé on the first try. Riding high on this wave of DIY triumph, I then installed multiple power walls, all juiced up by the solar panels on our roof. There’s a certain sparkle of pride knowing that our home and electric chariots are powered by the sun’s generous rays, contributing our own little ray of sustainability to the world.

And let’s not forget the cherry on top: while my home revels in the sun’s embrace, my electric vehicle basks in the glory of workplace charging. It’s like having a personal pit stop at the office—my trusty steed gets a power nap, and I get to zoom away after work, all charged up and ready to ride into the sunset… or just the commute home.

?

What motivates and inspires you?

There’s a profound joy in seeing a task through to its fruition, coupled with the satisfaction of lending a hand to others along the way. The moment of crossing the finish line is not just a personal victory; it’s a chance to reflect on the collective journey and the contributions we have made to ensure our shared success. It’s about the milestones achieved and the camaraderie built, all culminating in that triumphant final step.

Congratulations Mike! Great reading about some of your accomplishments years after we worked together. Your narrative made me smile too. I’ve enjoyed taking on a number of DIY jobs myself through the years. Always a strong sense of accomplishment to learn a new set of skills and apply them successfully with quality and value.
