Meet Brennan Cody, the final spotlight in our "Meet the Managers" series in Vancouver!

Join us in celebrating Brennan's remarkable journey from Account Manager to his latest achievement as the newest Regional Sales Manager at Tipalti! Since 2015, Brennan has been carving his path in sales, demonstrating dedication, and leadership every step of the way.

Passionate about sports, especially basketball, Brennan's enthusiasm extends beyond the court. In his free time, he generously volunteers, embodying Tipalti's values of community and giving back. He is a strong leader who embodies hard work and dedication and will go above and beyond to set his team members up for success.

Brennan's international experiences have shaped his worldview, having lived abroad in Copenhagen for 5 months while studying international business. Notably, he competed on the basketball team in the Euromasters business school competition at WHU University in Germany and excelled in a Deloitte-sponsored corporate social responsibility case competition.

How long have you been with Tipalti, and were you always in a leadership role

  • Almost three years, recently making the transition from AE into Leadership.?

How long have you been in the field of sales, and what led you to transition into a managerial role?

  • I’ve been in software sales since 2015, so right around 9 years. During my time as an AE, I always found the most fulfillment when mentoring and helping my teammates. I’ve gravitated towards leadership for a long time and love that I get to do this as my full time job.?

Can you describe your management philosophy or style when it comes to leading a sales team?

  • I aim to lead with a healthy mix of empathy and encouragement, while also challenging my team to excel. I’m aiming to create an environment where everyone feels supported, valued and that they are working together as a team. Beyond that, I love to get in the trenches to try new things and support my team with strategy and tactics.

How do you balance the need for achieving sales targets with maintaining a positive and healthy team culture?

  • I encourage everyone on my team to control the variables that lead to success and understand that the results will follow. There are always going to be ups and downs in our profession, so sometimes it’s important to separate from the results and focus on constant improvement. Beyond that, I hope to foster an environment where everyone on the team is working together, sharing best practices and blowing out their individual goals.?

What strategies do you employ to ensure effective communication and collaboration between your sales team and other departments, such as marketing or customer support?

  • We are lucky in Vancouver in that we have local staff from other departments that sit just a few desks over. I encourage my team to develop relationships with their colleagues in marketing, support, and other departments which helps facilitate collaboration. Beyond that, we often have our supporting teams join our team slack channels and weekly meetings in order to ensure everyone is on the same page and working together.?

How do you promote continuous learning and development within your sales team to keep them competitive and adaptable?

  • We have a fantastic onboarding and enablement group that helps set the tone for learning from day one. Beyond that, we have bi-weekly competitive enablement sessions, deal strategy reviews and we host specific training on an as needed basis. Within the team specifically, we spend time during weekly meetings to review key learnings and challenges.?

What would your current team say is the best part about working for you??

  • Working with a leader who understands the challenges of the role and can coach on what it takes to be successful as an AE at Tipalti.?

What do you like the most about working at Tipalti?

  • The people and culture, we have a fantastic office in downtown Vancouver with a great group of people. From daily lunches in our kitchen, office wide golf tournaments, and after work events there is no shortage of fun events.?The opportunities for growth and career development. In a fast growing company like Tipalti, there is an abundance of opportunity and I love how dedicated our leadership team is to promoting internally.?
