Meet Lady Lager. The Female Voice of the Beer Brewing Industry.
Stemming from a long line of women beer drinkers, Alisa Bowens-Mercado has become a pioneer in the brewing field. In 2018, Alisa founded Rhythm Brewing Company. As the first woman and first African American woman beer brewer in the state of Connecticut. Alisa designed her brand to give past, current, and future women beer drinkers a platform so their voices can be heard.
Alisa has used her experiences as a serial entrepreneur to help grow Rhythm into the nationally distributed beer company it is today. Her past experiences as a salsa teacher and coffee brewer can be seen throughout the brand. She credits her elite work ethic, ability to adapt, and creative mind as the driving forces that have helped grow Rhythm. Alisa calls these traits her "entrepreneurial spirit". Alisa's experience as a coffee brewer has allowed her to become the first company to release two types of her new espresso martinis. She plans to release an espresso martini cocktail, as well as the first-ever decaf espresso martini. These beverages are scheduled to be released in the first week of July.
Alisa's goal is to continue to grow her company in her hometown in New Haven, Connecticut. She believes the more that she shares her story, the more it will resonate with people and bring the community together. By using the Helping Hands project, Alisa is looking to build her championship-level team using talent found in the local colleges of New Haven.
