MEET KENDRA ANN SHERRILL

Our Board of Directors has some new faces, and we wanted to share these talented individuals with you!

Please meet Kendra Ann Sherrill, our new Director of Talent and culture. Our organization has grown from around 30 to almost 90 volunteers in the last two years. As the team expands, we want to ensure our volunteers have the best possible experience while generously giving their time to support the organization. Kendra has been volunteering with the Children's Media Association for over a year, and her contributions and comradery were noticed by all. When we contemplated this new department, we knew we needed someone who not only works well with others but loves bringing teams together. Kendra is that person and so much more!

We thought it would be fun to have our new board members answer some questions so you can learn a little more about them.

Give us an elevator pitch on yourself.

I am a Northwest Regional Emmy-winning director/producer/editor with extensive experience in film production, events (with an emphasis on film festivals), and programming. I am creative and cheerful and hope to bring some color and kindness into this world through my work!

If your career was a book, tell us what chapter we are currently writing.

My current chapter is when the character is worried things aren't going to work out - the part of the story that happens right before all the things fall into place!

What do you love most about kids and family media?

Everyone has a favorite?show or movie that changed their little life as a kid. Children can tend to live in a bubble of what they know is reality, and kids' media is a rare opportunity to pop that bubble and show them a glimpse of things outside their own lives. Movies were my absolute world growing up - and I want to be able to create films that can be that important for a kiddo today.

Why did you want to volunteer with the Children’s Media Association?

I was thrilled to find an organization full of people like me - who love?children's media! For a while, I felt I was the only one who loved making kids' films, but discovering?CMA has been such a lovely experience that has connected me with wonderful people who share my same passions. I wanted to be a part of it any way I could! I am proud to help?expand the organization to reach as many folks as we can so they know they aren't?alone either!

Share something about you that most people don’t know.

I love sewing my own clothes, I'm left-handed, I hope to become a Jazzercise instructor someday, and I once starred in a TV show!
