What inspired you to choose your professional career?

By college degree, I am an educator. I taught middle school and high school career and technology education for 4.5 years. While I loved teaching and helping students reach their career goals, I found myself wanting to reach different career goals and searched for new opportunities. I ended up in an HR admin role, assisting the recruitment team. I knew nothing about HR but learned so much and grew to love it but quickly outgrew that role and company and knew I wanted more human interaction like I had with teaching. I ended up applying to a recruiter role with JMT, got the job, and am so thankful for the recruitment team and my supervisor Jenny for giving me this wonderful opportunity. JMT has been such a blessing, and being on this team has taught me so much more than I thought.

Can you tell us about a significant project you’ve handled and how it has impacted you, our company, or the architecture, engineering, construction, and/or technology industries?

Currently, some of my team members and I are working on a project to evaluate and revamp the documents we use. We are always looking for efficient ways of completing processes and making sure our documents are easy for our candidates and new hires to read and understand. I will be doing some research and evaluations, looking into different criteria for software and programs that would make the recruitment process more seamless and ultimately finding the right program that would help our process.

Are there any hobbies or interests outside of work that you feel have influenced your professional journey?

I have always been into photography, and in 2020 I dabbled in videography. I started my own business and, in my spare time, have videoed over 30 weddings. Although that doesn't specifically correlate with recruiting, it has helped me network and meet many different vendors and people who are also just doing that as a hobby. As a recruiter, it's just second nature to always be on the lookout for great talent!

Meet JMT: Insights from Within is more than just a podcast; it's a celebration of the diverse perspectives that make our industry thrive.

Stay tuned for a captivating exploration of the multifaceted world of architecture, engineering, construction, and technology as told by the voices that shape it.
