??Tell us about your career at Mark’s.

My journey with Mark's started in March of 2015 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan as a Department Sales Manager. Later that year, I was promoted to an Assistant Manager, and a couple years after that I was promoted to be the Store General Manager.

In 2021, a big move to Calgary, Alberta, allowed for an opportunity to change locations to another store as the Store General Manager. Then after two-years, a role opened at our corporate office, and I took another leap from our store team to join the corporate Mark’s Store Operations team as the Store Operations Support Coordinator!

?? How do you contribute to making life in Canada better?

Being in stores, it was so easy to make life in Canada better by providing information to my customers on what they need to stay warmer, drier, safer, and more comfortable for all that life provides to them. Training the staff and ensuring that they had the details they need, the support to know how to convey to customers, and the time they needed on the salesfloor to do their jobs is a vital part of being a manager.

In my new position, this translates to the staff in our stores now being my customer. Everything we do is to empower them and give them the tools, resources, and support that they need to have the energy and opportunity to help their customers be outfitted and prepared for life in Canada and the ever-changing environments that we live in.?

??What is it about Mark’s that excites you to come to work each day?

The excitement every day at work for me is that I have spent eight and a half years in store learning what we do and why we do it. Helping to be a voice for growth and change to make our company and our stores as strong as we can be is what makes the work, I do exciting!

With my knowledge and the input from my store team peers I can focus even more on helping to make life in stores even better. #StrongerTogether

??What have you learned throughout your time with Mark’s?

In my time with Mark’s, through various roles, I have learned to find my voice. Through teamwork and collaboration, I have learned what I have to give to a workforce. With the evolution of the values of our company, I have truly adopted our 5 core values into my life both in and out of the workplace. I was fortunate to be a part of the initial launch of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) group for Mark’s, and that experience has altered the way I look at work as a part of my life. No longer do my values for life and advocacy need to live outside of my work environment, but it is encouraged to be a part of the work I do within my job.

We are a Human-Centered, Purpose-Driven company, and we can each show up as we are to make life in Canada better... And that is the thing I love most about working for Mark’s. ?
