Midlife Women are in their Own Business Era: 25 for 25 Jessica Cadzow-Collins
For so many reasons, midlife women are in their Own Business Era.
I’m lucky to know many women who’ve left corporate culture, and are now building and scaling their own thing. Trademarking their IP, working solo or employing and contracting others.
During December, I’m publishing an alternative advent calendar featuring midlife women who’ve decided to be the boss of their own careers.
This series of posts, 25 for 25, features midlife women on the rise. Behind the next door on my alternative advent calendar is gemmologist and founder of jewellery brand Juraster, Jessica Cadzow-Collins.
Jessica Cadzow-Collins: founder & jewellery expert
Jessica Cadzow-Collins is a jewellery expert and gemmologist. She made the stars sparkle during decades working for top jewellery stores in Bond Street and at Harrods. Now Jessica has just launched Juraster, her own ethical jewellery brand.
Jessica wanted to build a brand that sets the touchstone for brilliantly versatile designs, affordable value, ethical sourcing and fine craftsmanship. Juraster is the first jewellery brand to craft everything from Fairmined gold and silver, to support responsible mining and create pieces that have a lasting legacy for their customers.
Her newly minted brand has just been featured in the magazine of the UK’s biggest Sunday paper.
2025 is for …
Jessica is excited about pushing forward with Juraster’s sales and marketing strategy in 2025. She’s got wholesale events and D2C marketing coming up, as well as adding more colourful gemstone options to their designs.

Juraster already buys Akoya pearls direct from a UNESCO marine park pearl farm. The brand’s diamonds all come from De Beers Botswana (an industry leader for community development). Jessica will work hard next year to ensure all their other gemstones can be traced to source.
Inspiration & motivation comes from …
“Three things get me out of bed in the morning. I love seeing the happiness and sentimental meaning that customers get from our jewellery. I love creating designs that bring out the beauty of nature - working with gems, gold and silver is just spellbinding. And the satisfying challenge of building a business that’s making the jewellery value chain more equitable.”
Jessica met Princess Diana a few times through her charity work, and says she was incredibly influential.
“Obviously she was stunningly beautiful, but it was her warmth and kindness that shone so brightly, despite her superstar status. Since then, I’ve always tried to be kind, and to work hard for causes that bring positive change.”
Jessica’s advice for her younger self
“I’d want younger me not to get discouraged when things don’t work out. There’s always another way around a block and you’ll find the right people to help if you keep looking. Just keep your heart open.”
