Helping us grow is new team member Jess, who joins us as Talent Acquisition Specialist at Payara. We caught up with her to find out a bit more about her life. Turns out, it's jam-packed!

?What energises you at work?

?Completely complex projects, identifying areas for improvement, implementing them and then watching those changes have a positive impact on people and processes. Collaborating with others and bouncing ideas off one another.

?Do you have any major work pet peeves?

?Loud chewing but working from home means it’s my own chewing that annoys me!?

?How do you prefer to start your day?

?I love to get up early and head straight to the gym and get energised and set up for the day.?

?What's your go-to productivity trick?

?I work with the 25/5 rule. Stay on task for 25 minutes (I set a timer!) I cannot do anything other than that task for the full time, when the timer goes, I then do something else for 5 minutes like check emails or respond to another quick task to stop my mind getting overwhelmed, and then go again. I also live by to-do lists either on paper or using Microsoft task lists, breaking each one down into manageable chunks.

?Are you an early bird or night owl?

?A bit of both! I tend to mix it up depending on my personal and professional schedule.?

?What are you looking forward to about working at Payara?

?Being a part of something that is in such an exciting scale-up phase, having my visions and work seen heard and implemented, being part of a team of people who encourage new fresh ideas and continually innovate.?

?What are some of your favourite hobbies to do outside of work? Why do you enjoy them?

?I strength train 5 times a week and like to compete in local races such as 5/10k endurance races. Since finding weights 2 years ago I love to see my progress increase week to week, it also gives me an hour a day away from being called Mum 5000 times a day!

I also love spending time with my family and children, we are always off finding adventures to go on at the weekends!

?What do you enjoy most about remote working?

?No commuting, I find 2 hours a day in a car such a waste of time and remote working means my productivity is increased due to no distractions.

?Have you worked remotely before? How did you find it?

?Yes, I have for 6 years so I am very used to it, I enjoy the peace and ability to get my head down without distraction.?

?What's your preferred communication style: email, f2f or rapid text chat?

?Text chat, for speed, emails for more detail.

?What's the biggest misconception people have about your role?

?That it is a CV shuffling position, adding job adverts and not really bringing any added value.?

?What's the top destination that you've visited OR that you plan to visit?

?Best place I have ever been was Disneyland Paris, but I really want to visit Las Vegas and hopefully will get to do that in the next few years!?

?Why do you enjoy about working in talent acquisition??

?People, I have always loved working and speaking to people from all over the world, I always learn something new, and I love knowing that I can have a positive influence over a person's career journey.
