Meet Jeanette Spinks, Loan Processor

With over 50 years of professional experience combined at Mortgage Choice in Arundel and Broadbeach, our lovely team is made up of diverse backgrounds, professions, and plenty of reasons for doing what we do. So, who are the great individuals that make up our mortgage broking business, and what inspires them to help clients every day?

Our ‘Meet the Team’ blog series shares a little bit of insight into a team member who took a little break not too long ago to become a Mum. Loans Processor, Jeanette Spinks, has been with our team since 2016 and is based at the Mortgage Choice in Arundel office.

Here’s some background on Jeanette that you may not know…

Jeanette spent her childhood moving around a bit because her Dad was a Bank Manager at the Commonwealth Bank. Her family lived in Bundaberg when she was a child, and then they moved to Home Hill for a few years - a town of about 3,000 residents and an hour or so south of Townsville. Jeanette and her family then moved back to Bundaberg for the rest of her time at home.

With inspiration from her Dad’s banking career, Jeanette started work as a Teller and Sales Manager at National Australia Bank (NAB), she then moved to Bank of Queensland (BoQ) in a similar role. Jeanette decided next to take on a role processing Head Office package applications at the Commonwealth Bank, for four years. Then, as a change of pace and to diversify her experience, Jeanette switched to become a Financial Planning and Stock Broking Assistant for the next five years. Finally, Jeanette’s path led her to Loan Processing, which she has been expertly doing now for eight years.

In 2016, Jeanette joined our team at Mortgage Choice in Arundel as she was looking for more work-life balance, and the role sounded perfect to achieve that goal.

We asked Jeanette a few questions to find out more about what inspires her...

What are some of your favourite things?

“My favourite things would be my beautiful baby girl, Emma, my dog Meggs, and all things Japanese!”

What would be your ‘last meal’?

“Probably lamb chops for the main meal, with Liquorice Bullets for dessert. I’d have to have some Umesu (Japanese plum wine) to go with it – delicious.”

Why did you decide to become a Loans Processor?

“I’ve always enjoyed working in the finance industry, and it’s been part of most of my working career. Loans processing felt like it was a natural progression from my past roles in finance.”

What do you enjoy most about being a Loans Processor?

“I love helping people achieve their financial goals. Helping someone buy their first home gives me a wonderful feeling that never gets old.”

What motivates you to do what you do?

“I have a genuine love of interacting and socialising with people, whether that is clients or my colleagues.

I think it's really important to enjoy your work and be able to give the best to clients because you love what you do and who you work with.”
