Ryan Murray

Company Role:?Website Content Creator & Data Analyst

What do you do within your job role at JCEM?

I work on anything and everything related to the website, including producing new content for the website to advertise and sell our services – both new and existing.

I also look at the data behind our website traffic and assess it, helping us to understand how we can improve the website.

What’s your favourite event that you’ve worked on?

The most recent event that I’ve enjoyed working on has been the ‘Sidemen After Party‘. I’ve enjoyed working at an ‘Alice in Wonderland Themed Party‘ and ‘Twisted Circus Halloween Party‘ as I attended to create videos for both of them, these were really fun!

I really enjoy creating invite designs for parties – from a party in the BT Tower to a Halloween Event at Savage Garden in London.

What do you like about working at JCEM?

  • Small and close-knit team
  • Future thinking
  • Varied job role in an exciting industry that covers most sectors
  • Space for creativity within Content Production
  • Anyone can shape the way we work, always looking for best practices and very adaptable

A project that you’re most proud of?

I’m proud of a lot of projects that I’ve worked on at JCEM, including the events I have previously mentioned. I have put a lot of work into updating our SEO Processes and creating and Data Studio Report for the whole of the team.

I am also proud of being a part of the JCEM Website Project from the beginning – from initial design to the website launch and working on improvements going forward.

How would you like to see the company progress in the next 5 years?

In the next 5 years I would like to see JCEM go more International, working at events in even more countries across the globe. I would love to work with more Influencer clients, as this is something I enjoy.

It would be great for JCEM to be known for our strengths on a larger scale – being a creative Event Production Company that specialises in?Event Design and Production.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

I love anything that involves being outdoors, whether it’s for a walk, a run or walking the dog. I also enjoy going on holiday and skiing!

My other hobbies include anything fitness related, such as going to the gym and running in my spare time.

I really love a good documentary and listening to podcasts on topics that I’m interested in.

What book are you currently reading?

Funnily enough, I have just bought a book for the first time in years! It’s called ‘The Chimp Paradox’ and has been recommended to me several times. I’m hoping it’s not a cliché self-improvement book but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

What is your favourite place in the entire world?

I love Scotland as I lived there for a few years.

I manage the output and content of some of the team as well as working with external agencies and recruiters when hiring in new talent.

What’s your favourite event that you’ve worked on?

Some of the events I’ve loved most are the ones that include lots of immersive theming. I really loved seeing the Grotto we built for the?Bury St Edmunds Shopping Centre. It was great to see how we transformed the old Topshop into an interactive Winter Wonderland and I loved seeing all of the children and adults excited to visit Father Christmas.

I loved working on the ‘XIX Vodka Launch Party‘ – the way we transformed the event space from an empty warehouse to a Neo-Tokyo inspired party was incredible and I loved seeing all of the detail of the final event come together.

My hobbies include flower arranging and foraging. I really love reading, I’ve recently started attending a book club and I like to collect beautiful hardback editions of classic literature.

Other hobbies include listening to podcasts – my current favourite is ‘As The Seasons Turn’. I also enjoy baking – I recently attended the Birmingham bake-off experience and our cake won star bake!

Finally, I love to celebrate each season! So, throughout the year, I love to plan lots of activities that relate to the seasons. My favourite season is Autumn, closely followed by Winter and then Spring.

What book are you currently reading?

I am reading a couple currently. My daytime book is ‘Persuasion’ by Jane Austen and my evening book is ‘The Midwich Cuckoos’ by John Wyndham. The next book on my list is a book called ‘Landlines’ by Raynor Winn.

What is your favourite place in the entire world?

In lockdown, my partner and I discovered a beautiful walk near us which involves walking through a huge field of very friendly horses. The best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset and we will often go and sit on the bench with a hot drink and breathe in the fresh air and closeness to nature. If you walk a little further along the trail there are a couple of quintessentially English country pubs to enjoy too.

I started out as an Apprentice within the company in 2021 and have recently started a new role that combines working in both the Media and Sales Team at JCEM.

I just finished reading ‘This Charming Man’ by C.K. McDonnell which is an absolutely hilarious sequel to his ‘The Stranger Times’ book series. I’m now currently reading ‘The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ which is an interesting read so far! I have no idea what my next read will be as my TBR pile is never-ending…

What is your favourite place in the entire world?

East Runton. My Grandparents owned a caravan there and I have many happy memories of spending time in the penny arcades, eating ice cream and visiting quaint little villages in Norfolk.

What’s your favourite event that you’ve worked on?

Overseeing the recent delivery of the?Global Brand. Building this up from scratch, this is something still very much in its infancy, so stay tuned.

To continue being one of the UK’s leading Event Management and Production companies. I would like to see a huge growth with our International Brand and build upon our overseas client base.

I’m eager to see JCEM continuing to push boundaries and inheriting new technologies to keep delivering new ‘out-of-this-world’ experiences.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Going to the gym. Getting my workouts in, definitely helps me de-stress. And when I’m not pushing those weights, I’m pushing buttons on my PS5. I love being fully immersed in other worlds with one-player story-driven games.

Additionally, I’m a bit of a film buff and love a good ‘Netflix and chill’ night!

What book are you currently reading?

I, unfortunately, don’t get a lot of time to read books. Most of my reading is done online, with science, philosophy, news and politics as my go-to topics of choice.

What is your favourite place in the entire world?

Aside from curling up in bed after a nice long eventful day, definitely the beach! The sea air, the sound of the waves, and swimming in the wide open ocean is probably when I’m happiest.
