Meet the Immutables - Jeremy Giraudet

Jeremy Giraudet chats to us about how he started his career with a mechanical engineering degree, his move to Australia from France with an internship opportunity and his passion for startups and Web3, which ultimately landed him at Immutable .???

Why did you choose to join the tech industry?

I didn't. I first graduated as a mechanical engineer in France, saving me a spot to work for Airbus aerospace. However, I wasn't sure about the vision of spending the next 40 years in such a big company without first exploring what the world had to offer.

So I decided to look for internships overseas. I received a few exciting offers in China, Mexico and one from Australia; after Googling Bondi beach, the next minute, I am on a Qantas flight travelling to the country down under.

I spent my first few years in Australia as a Technical Project Manager implementing biometrics security solutions for government agencies. I then felt the urge to work in an industry that could allow me to create, build and implement solutions in a fast-paced environment; this is when I fell in love with tech startups.

After spending the last seven years working for five startups in Australia and Europe, I am now building the next internet generation with Immutable.

Who are your career inspirations??

Besides reading the great classics, Elon Musk and Melanie Perkins stories, I have listened to podcast interviews of early-stage company founders (This Week in Startups, Nathan Latka, The Tim Ferris Show). Their energy and passion for growing businesses from 1 to 10 fascinate me as much as their brilliant strategic mindset when it comes to scaling 10 to 100 in the growth phase.

How did you end up joining Immutable?

I have always wanted to be part of a unicorn-like startup. So, when I first heard about Immutable, I quickly realized the impact that this company would have in defining the future of the internet.

In addition to this, I had excellent chats during my hiring process with highly skilled people passionate about what they were trying to build. These conversations comforted me that culture and people are the top priority for this company.

What do you think about the Web3 industry overall and the direction it is moving?

Blockchain and NFT's are only the tips of the iceberg. Web3 is emerging at an incredible speed. Ultimately, almost every website could/would be revamped using those building blocks to provide more flexibility/privacy to the users when consuming the web.

Immutable is, along with a few other companies, a pioneer in using Web3 to provide a solution to digital asset ownership for video gamers.

Let's pause and think about how many day-to-day services we are using that need third-party/central authority to validate that person A owns object B.. this is how ample the opportunity is with digital ownership powered by NFTs and platforms like Immutable.

What does your typical work day at Immutable look like?

My day always starts with a coffee and a podcast about new crypto technology, whether I work from home or at our stunning office in Sydney CBD. I'll then check out Slack, read new threads and pick up on any topic that I think I could help people with.

I enjoy working at Immutable because we encourage everyone to participate in any initiative, conversation, and topic we are interested in. Collaboration and helping each other are keys to success in this industry.

PR reviews, standup, and design / technical meetings will make up the rest of my morning, and I will usually reserve my afternoon deep diving into coding. ??
