Part 1
To celebrate 50 years of IMAPS Nordic, or actually 51 years already, we start article series on IMAPS Nordic board members. We are glad to have colorful personalities in the board and just having a look at our officers page at IMAPS Nordic web might give too boring picture. Therefore, officers have a possibility to introduce themselves in their own way.
The presentation series is kicked-off by one of IMAPS Nordic Honorary members and person who is most likely known by everyone in the European IMAPS chapters; Paul Collander .

My first participation in an ISHM Nordic event was in 1974 when I had just joined the industry (Nokia).
About 1990 I was able to join the Board of ISHM Nordic and became president from the beginning of 1997, for 8 years. Among first task was to change the name ISHM to IMAPS jointly with IMAPS Europe. An additional 2 year presidential period was 2017 and 2018.?
A lot of volunteering work but my deep interest was in microelectronics and I loved international collaboration. At Nokia, IMAPS provided a fruitful environment for finding new ideas and solutions. Later, forming my consulting enterprise my IMAPS duties provided valuable prestige. Indeed all friends I could regularly meet and all the nice conferences gave me important motivation also for my daily work.
My technical interests have always been to try to solve the most challenging problems, demanding multiple groups to work together. Reliability and business aspects were left to others.
Now when I am retired from all industrial work I use volunteering at IMAPS Nordic as a ladder for stepping down. Indeed I will miss the conferences and friends but professional life is limited.
