We look forward to working with you and matching a fantastic pre-service or early career teacher with your company. National Transport Authority

The National Transport Authority (NTA) is a statutory non-commercial body, which operates under the aegis of the Department of Transport. Established in 2009, the NTA is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to provide high quality, accessible, sustainable transport across Ireland. One of the primary statutory functions of NTA is to develop and implement a transport strategy for the Greater Dublin Area, and the Authority is also closely involved in developing transport strategies in our regional cities. NTA funds and oversees Public Service Obligation (PSO) public transport, ensuring that vital bus and rail services are available to communities in all parts of the country under the Transport for Ireland brand. NTA is also the licensing authority for the commercial bus sector and Small Public Service Vehicles (SPSVs).

STEM Teacher Intern Role

Following a comprehensive induction, NTA STInt Interns will become active and valued members of our organisation. At the NTA, we employ people from science, engineering, business, technology, communications and many other backgrounds, who work across the Directorates outlined below. Every effort will be made to provide STInt Intern opportunities in the business area most aligned with the interests of the intern.

Our work: We develop and manufacture healthcare solutions within many therapeutic areas: consumer self-care, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, thrombosis, rare diseases, type 2 inflammation (e.g. atopic dermatitis) and vaccines.

STEM Teacher Intern Role

STInt intern duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Supports daily lab management activities- 5S, safety walk throughs, chemical inventory checks, sample receipt and reconciliation.
• Gain an understanding of lyophilisation of biologics, solid state and biophysical characterisation.
• Participates in process and product life cycle and development activities.
• Perform testing activities within the Manufacturing Sciences laboratory.
• Perform equipment verifications.
• Design, execute and document technical studies.
• Works with team members supporting on going projects within the team.
• Support lab documentation.

The ideal STInt intern will have the following skills and competencies:

• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Interest and passion for science contributing to an energised working environment.
• Knowledge in lyophilisation and protein characterisation.

Teagasc

Teagasc – the Agriculture and Food Development Authority – is the national body providing integrated research, advisory and training services to the agriculture and food industry and rural communities. The Teagasc mission is to support science-based innovation in the agri-food sector and wider bio-economy that will underpin profitability, competitiveness and sustainability. This is achieved through the close coupling of research and knowledge transfer in four programme areas:

• Animal and Grassland Research and Innovation
• Crops, Environment and Land Use
• Food
• Rural Economy and Development

Each of these programmes is composed of research, development and knowledge-transfer/industry-development departments. Research is conducted at seven dedicated locations, while knowledge transfer professionals are located throughout the country. The Teagasc annual research portfolio comprises some 300 research projects, carried out by 500 scientific and technical staff in our research centres throughout Ireland. In order to maximise the impact of our research, Teagasc actively collaborates with research organisations across the world. These collaborations stretch from individual projects and publications right up to formal alliances and partnerships.

STInt Intern Role Description?

The Teagasc STInt Intern will take on a variety of roles and responsibilities, including:

• Assisting in the development of educational resources that are aligned with the post-primary curriculum.
• Collaborating with researchers to integrate their work into the curriculum and create relevant experiments and training.
• Designing and developing experiments that can be easily reproduced by teachers, parents, and students.
• Compiling and preparing materials for upload to the relevant Teagasc internal and external media platforms.
• Creating evaluation methods for both internal and external purposes.

The ideal STInt intern will have the following key skills and competencies:

• Experience with Canva.
• Expertise in Excel.
• Experience with website maintenance (WordPress)

VistaMilk

VistaMilk is an SFI research centre which represents a unique collaboration between Agri Food and information communications technology (ICT) research institutes and leading? Irish/multinational food and ICT companies. VistaMilk is funded by Science Foundation? Ireland (SFI) and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. VistaMilk has been? operating since September 2018. There are over 110 funded staff and researchers in? VistaMilk. We have a 7 research partners who include Teagasc (who are the host institute),? The Walton Institute (WIT), Insight@UCD, Insight@DCU, Insight@NUIG, and Tyndall Institute? (UCC) and the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation (ICBF).

STEM Teacher Intern Role

The STInt Intern can expect a range of roles and responsibilities including:

• Work with the Education and Public Engagement (EPE) Manager? and the Communications Manager at VistaMilk.
• Work with various managers to develop strategies and materials for community outreach, with a focus on raising awareness of VistaMilk’s research and its impact on sustainable agriculture.
• Collaborate with researchers, educators, and external partners to ensure the educational content aligns with the current STEM curricula and best practices.

The ideal STInt intern will have the following key skills and competencies:

• Experience using Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience in coding, beneficial but not essential.

STEM Teacher Intern Role

Our internship programme will provide third level students, and STInt interns the opportunity of a paid 3 month placement within Vodafone workingin an area related to students college course. Vodafone offers a range of different roles for interns from data analytics to digital marketing andwe have roles available across all 7 business units that will provide interns with the experience needed on their college work placements. Interns will get to work on an exciting project within our business but also get a full view of the other areas by gaining exposure to all business units during their internship.
