Meet Heidi and Zach from Mister Toast

Starting from a humble market cafe to focusing on toasted sandwiches today, Heidi and Zach are on a mission to make Australian grate great again. Driven by a passion for good bread and delicious accompaniments, they formed Mister Toast to offer Sydneysiders exceptional cheese toasties.

In its eighth year of operation, Mister Toast continues to delight customers with mouth-watering grilled cheese offerings, each crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Using hand-crafted ingredients and condiments, such as their renowned Vegan Cashew Cheese, Sauerkraut and Shiitake Bacon, each toastie both respects and elevates the traditional toastie.

From classic favourites like the Grilled Cheese Toastie to innovative creations like the Mushroom and Cubano Toasties, Heidi and Zach offer something unique for every palate. A standout among their offerings is the Vegan Toastie. Featuring cashew cheese, this toastie has captured the hearts of both vegans and non-vegans alike, earning accolades such as "making Australia grate again" from Good Food SMH.

Their goal now is to have a brick-and-mortar store to reach a wider audience beyond weekend markets. As community is at the heart of Mister Toast’s values, they plan to include elements of social enterprise in the future. As part of the 2024 Business Innovation Program funded by City of Sydney hosted by Disruptors Co, Heidi and Zach are focusing on furthering their skills in branding, developing systems, and taking the next big step in growing their business.
