Meet George Stanley
George Stanley is one of the friendliest people I have ever met. The General Manager of BMW of Tri-Cites in Richland, WA will have you laughing in a matter of minutes. He is most definitely a people person, which is probably why he has done so well in his career with BMW.
George first started out in the construction industry, which was great until the winter weather shut things down. Needing a consistent pay check he made the move to automotive. He started with BMW in 1996, he has been with the brand an impressive 24 years working his way up to his current role. When asked what he enjoys most about position he said the coaching and mentoring component, which is evident if you have ever interviewed with George. Multiply candidates have claimed their interview was the most fun, informative interview they had ever experienced. Mr. Stanley does a great job explaining the career path and the skills it will take to be successful as an automotive technician, he truly wants his team to succeed.
What advice does George give new comers to automotive? Be flexible. As the John Wooden quote goes, “Flexibility is the key to stability”. This industry is going through many changes and the individual that can be flexible and adaptable will find their way forward.
I asked George “What makes BMW of Tri-Cities so great to work for?” His response, “When I first met the owner of BMW of Tri-Cities I asked him what was most important to him. He said he wanted to be the best BMW Center in the Pacific Northwest. This is a very important realization that a candidate looking for a BMW Center to call home should understand. Every Center is interested in being profitable and efficient. Those are meaningless items if being the best is not the first priority. The Owner must have this vision for all of the team to be effective towards this goal and BMW of Tri-Cities exemplifies this standard.” I would say George Stanley is whole heartily working towards this vision.
