Meet the Four Churches Participating in the Good Neighbor Experiment
Faith in Rural Communities is excited to announce the four churches participating in our pilot cohort of The Good Neighbor Experiment.
They are Stokesdale UMC (Rockingham County), New Brook UMC (Person County), Metropolitan UMC (Guilford County), and Salem UMC (Burke County).
The Good Neighbor Experiment is a new program for Faith in Rural Communities through a partnership with The Neighboring Movement in Wichita, Kan. It is a four-month learning cohort that takes seriously Jesus' call to love our neighbors. It draws upon the principles of asset-based community development in ways that are accessible to help church members get to know their literal neighbors.
The curriculum includes a worship series on the key ingredients of neighboring as well as 15 weeks of small group study with practical applications of the principles of asset-based community development.
Faith in Rural Communities hopes to coach two cohorts of North Carolina churches through this transformational curriculum next year.
The application is expected to open early 2024.
