Meet the face behind The Resolute Foundation.

It’s been quite a journey figuring out how to best uplift our youth through the Resolute Foundation. As the head of the Foundation, I am excited to reconnect with you and share our renewed commitment to empowering young minds through education and technology.

In our efforts to keep you informed, we will update you regularly on our initiatives and the nation's state regarding EdTech in South African spaces. There is a pressing need for our young people to be equipped with skills that are future-ready, and we believe that coding and robotics education can play a pivotal role in addressing this need.

South Africa faces significant challenges, with youth unemployment being among the most critical issues. Many young people lack access to quality education and the necessary skills to thrive in the modern workforce. This is where coding and robotics come in, which I will explain in a bit.

I spent the first few years of my life in Daveyton, a township next to Chris Hani, with my gran, her children, and one of my cousins. My mother was part of this group. Through her hard work and intellectual brilliance—harder than anyone I had seen—she found her way through varsity, got job placement, and eventually started climbing the ladder. My mother had a brilliant mind that allowed her to be top of her class regardless of the institution she was in. Before she passed, she was Head of Finance at Vodacom. She was determined to become the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank. I have my biases, so I cannot factually tell if she would have made it, but knowing her, nothing would have stopped her from giving her best because of her hard work and intellectual brilliance.

Because of her hard work, Vodacom played a crucial role in assisting with my school fees after she passed, enabling me to attend Pretoria Boys High School, a prestigious institution. This educational foundation not only shaped my upbringing but also empowered me to be in the position I am today, leading Resolute Foundation and advocating for the children of these hardworking individuals.

Why is this important? Millions of students whose parents worked just as hard had a maniacal focus and unbelievable work ethic and fought day in and day out to provide for their families but didn’t get the path my mother did. They remain in under-resourced communities, in schools lacking and in need, not fully capable of placing them in the most advantageous circumstances to succeed.

This is why tech-based learning is so important to me. It allows students to equip themselves with skills needed in the workforce. Coding and Robotics is not a silver bullet, but it is a step forward. I fight for these students and their futures. This is why the Resolute Foundation exists.

Resolute Foundation focuses on providing access to our coding and robotics curriculum and support through fundraising, collaboration with educational institutions, and networking to bring awareness to the needs of these schools.

You, dear reader, can play a vital role in this journey. Share this with someone who believes in the power of education and technology.

Let’s spread the word and make a difference together.

I look forward to continuing to build and grow Resolute’s Foundation, sharing what we are up to, and how you can participate. We're only 30 months into this journey, and there's so much more to come. Welcome to Resolute Foundation.
