This month we meet our Software Engineer, Nethra. It is truly these core skills within our team that set us above other survey companies to be the UK's go to company for River & Inland Water Geospatial Surveys.

1. What is your role at Storm Geomatics?

I have been working as a Software Engineer at Storm Geomatics Ltd. since March 2021. My primary responsibilities include developing software solutions to support the company's growth. My work also involves researching creation of tools and platforms that effectively communicate critical environmental aspects—such as river condition assessments, species nurturing, phosphorus levels in river water, the impact of floods on rivers, and other important environmental facts—to the common person in clear and accessible terms.

2.?????Tell us about your professional experience?

I have over 11 years of experience in software development, spanning both India and the UK. My expertise includes working with diverse technologies and programming languages, such as Microsoft .NET Framework, C#.Net, Python, Xamarin, Xcode, Angular, Microsoft Azure, Git, databases like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle SQL, PostGRESQL ?etc. This technical proficiency has enabled me to design and deliver robust software solutions across various domains, ensuring adaptability to evolving technological trends.

3.????? What is Your unique contribution to Storm Geomatics?

My unique contributions to Storm Geomatics include the development and enhancement of key applications and features that have supported the growth of the company.

I have played a pivotal role in enhancing the GeoRiver app, developing features and plugins that significantly reduce the processing time of raw survey data and enable seamless export to industry-standard formats used by flood risk model builders. My involvement spans from version 1.5.3 to the current version, 1.5.7 ?with another enhancement in pipeline.

In addition, I developed the Project Target App, a mobile application built from scratch to track project targets, integrated with QuickBooks Timesheets for calculating project hours. This app is available for both Android and iOS platforms.

I also designed and implemented a comprehensive project management application as both a web and mobile app. This application facilitates job scheduling for surveyors, provides day-to-day schedule views, and tracks incoming projects and clients. It integrates with the Project Target App, QuickBooks Timesheets, and Xero, enabling efficient management of project target scores, hours, and client information.

I have taken over the development of Photomapp, an iOS application for capturing and storing images along with location metadata such as what3words, latitude, longitude, and descriptive details, making it an essential tool for field operations. The app also has the feature to export photos in different formats.

I contribute to the company’s websites, Storm-Georiver and Storm-Wildlife, by adding required features and data. Furthermore, I have created REST APIs for data integration across different software and devices, as well as APIs to fetch weather data from an installed weather station which is used to create a widget on the Storm-Wildlife website.

Currently, I am working on retrieving data from water level sensors/gateway to monitor water levels in the Halford Flood Meadow, which will aid in flood monitoring and habitat management.

Looking ahead, I am contributing to ambitious projects such as the River Digital Twin and the Virtual Reality project for species nurturing, furthering the company’s mission to integrate advanced technology with environmental conservation.
