- Why did you decide to embark on an electrical apprenticeship initially? I decided to grab this opportunity as I had decided to leave full time football. Although it was something I loved and enjoyed, I also wanted to have a career I enjoyed for a long time, as football careers tend to be very short. While I wasn't new to the building trade, I had no idea of what was involved in electrics and expected it to be challenging, but also enjoyable, which it was!
- What has been your favourite experience as an apprentice? My favourite experience throughout my apprenticeship has been the skills and knowledge I've gained, while receiving more responsibility as I progressed. Finishing a house and seeing the work I have put in, everything coming to light, is a good feeling and is something I really enjoy. The problem solving and overcoming obstacles makes the job meaningful and rewarding.
- In what way has your apprenticeship given you the skills to succeed in life and in work? My apprenticeship has given me a skill I can use for life, it has given me a career out with football and makes sure I can continue to do something I enjoy while providing for my family for a long time.
- How do you feel now, as you have completed your apprenticeship? I feel fantastic after completing my FICA. Although I am now a qualified electrician, I still have so much to learn and with the employees I work beside this will happen, as the individuals Campion employs have great experience and are always happy to help you learn. I'm looking forward to the future at Campion while also continuing to learn and grow.
